BOARD OF SELECTMEN page 5
MINUTES
MONDAY, JANUARY , 1991
Police StationAddition:
Selectman Manson would hope in the future with projects of this
magnitude that the Building Inspector instead of the Assistant Building
Inspector complete the report of inspections.
Mr. Ethier states the work was completed well within the budget
since the town did a.lot of the work. He compliments Mr. Virgilio
for his services through the DPW.
There is money in the contingency fund to address any problems.
He expects the contract to be completed within thirty-five days.
The motion was rade by Selectman Danson to execute the certificate
of substantial completion for the Police Station addition.
Selectman Lawrence seconded the motion. The vote is unanimous
with the Board. The vote is 5-0.
7
: Newe . u c Permiti
Selectman Gottlieb and selectman Lawrence have stepped down
for this hearing.
Mr. Reardon believes the Cape Cod Commission has acted properly
within terms of the law and have no jurisdiction of the sep ae treat-
ment plants as part of New seaburyl s development and permit.
Town Counsel for New Seabury has asked of the Town' s position in
this matter. Mr. Reardon replied that the Board of Selectmen indicated
they were in favor of DEP to grant the permit for the septa.ge treatment
plant. It would be of assistance to New sea.bury if the town intervened
and indicated to the count that the town was not in opposition to the
grant of the waste water treatment facility and that it would be desirable -
to the community.
The motion was made by selectman Jacobson not to intervene. .,-;She
feels the .Commission is concerned with the scope of the review and in
time it will be resolved.
The motion was made by Selectman Hanson to permit Town Counsel
to proceed to intervene as a. party in interest and indicate to the court
the town' s- position to -this matter. Selectman Hanson feels this is
extremely critical to the town and any delays could have a. tremendous
impact,
Town Counsel states this is merely a vehicle where the town can
convey the message to the court for which this matter is pending.
Selectman Carter would like to amend selectman Hanson.' s motion
to convey the message to the court specifically with no. further. -involve-
ment from the town,
Selectman Manson seconded the motion. Selectman Jacobson i
opposed. The vote is favorable 2-1.
E
