1 ' 1 <br /> ■ <br /> 1 ■ <br /> BOARD OF SELECTMEN 'age <br /> MINUTES <br /> TUESDAY O APRIL 30t l l <br /> joint Discussion: <br /> Chairman Vaccaro asks how someone can agree to a. reduction o <br /> $100, 000 one night and disagree the next? <br /> It was the understanding of Dr. DeMoura that is was not the <br /> recommendation of the'',-Finance Committees but the recommendation of <br /> the Executive Secretary. <br /> Mr.* Vaccaro reports we left the meeting concluding Mr. Darrington <br /> to recommend the solution to the Board of Selectmen, Dr. DeMoura t <br /> the School Committee and Mr. Vaccaro to the Finance Committee. Several <br /> members of the Finance Committee felt there was not enough money to <br /> e reduced, fir, Vaccaro would like to stop the arguing and get on with <br /> Town government. <br /> Chairman Carter asks the Board if they would Like to recommend <br /> reducing the budget of the School Department? Selectman Lawrence has <br /> suggested to wait to see what the School Committee decides on. The <br /> FY 2 budget depends on what is corning back to us in FY 91. <br /> 7: 01 p.m. The School Committee has left for a private meeting o <br /> discussion, <br /> CLD BUSINESS: <br /> Contaminated Shellfish Relay: <br /> Paul. Somerville was present to discuss his intent to conduct a <br /> contaminated quahog and oyster relay this spring. Contacting the <br /> Division of Marine Fisheries and the Town bylaws, it 'is not necessary <br /> to hold public hearing t make the closure. <br /> The Shellfish Constable would like to reopen the area after <br /> the contaminated designation has been removed. It is rare when we <br /> put shellfish in for people to have objections, <br /> Selectman Carter Feels this -takes away from the democratic process, <br />. � <br /> This is the l iv lyho d for many residents S <br /> In the wast, there has been no problem reports Mr. Somerville, <br /> He would like to save a step. Selectman Hanson agrees there is enough <br /> publicity From the media to .inform the residents. It is the consensus. <br /> 7106 p. . Joint Discussion: <br /> The School. Committee has Called it' s Meeting to Order by Chairman <br /> C on ery. The motion was made by David Consalvi to return the sum of <br /> $368, 550 to the Town' s general fund, The motion was seconded by Dr. <br /> etti. The vote of the Board is unanimous. <br /> Selectman Gottlieb asks if Mr. Harrington' s recommendations still <br /> stand? The answer is yes reports fir. Darrington. He is concerned with <br /> local aid. The last June payment should be rec ieved in August, The <br /> projected FY 92 figure may not be obtained. ' The funds could be set <br /> aside for that particular purpose, He has recommended to impose a. <br /> moratorium on spending. <br /> Mr. Harrington is in favor of the ind pendant audit. The information <br /> w,* 11 not be available with the Board' r�ecommenda.tion. He will seek <br /> n auditor as soon as possible. Spending of anysort should be carefully <br /> scrutinized. <br />
