Committee is .l 92. <br /> The report of the Finance Committee' s sub-committee has an <br /> unexpended balance of $984, 212 which 1s more money than reported by - <br /> the School Committee. <br /> With raisest etc. , Dr. DeMoura stated is it logical and reasonable <br /> to assume there is $9009000 there`d <br /> As of March 22, 1991 the School Committee has expended 6% of <br /> them budget. There could be approximately two million in the budget. <br /> Chairman Carter asks if the School Committee could spend two million <br /> in the last quarter? <br /> It was reported by Dra Ieura the teachers salaries are the <br /> largest part of the budget. As of March 22nd: it is -week number 22 <br /> in the budget. The teachers are paid in full in September. The total <br /> payroll is approximately $70, 000 per week tires 52 weeks, 95 of <br /> the teachers rcieve pY 52 creeks per year. <br /> Mr. Vaccaro has suggested the Board bring in ars independant <br /> auditor. Selectman Hanson agrees. There are two points of view, He <br /> has strongly recommended the Board briing in an outside auditor and let <br /> the facts fall where they may.'. a proposes to resolve, the $368,550 now <br /> and the balance of the g eeme-ht before Town Meeting. <br /> Selectman Jacobson reported she was not notified she could review <br /> the books of the School Department. It is a known concern of the Board <br /> of Selectmen and 'inan e Committee and the responsibility of the School <br /> Committee to report to the Board. Accurate accounting of FY 91 towards <br /> Y 92 should be accounted for. Other accounts in Town have to know <br /> ghat they are doing. <br /> Thr. Petti stated the School Committee has-L- never hidden anything. <br /> She invites the Board to attend their meetings and it was always stated <br /> the records are available, Where are six boxes of records. The Town <br /> Accountant has always gone over the warrants and she has nearer said we <br /> are doing anything illegal. <br /> Kevin Harrington asks of the specific requirements of an outside <br /> audi" tor".? Selectman Hanson replied the answers to the reports of the <br /> "finance Committee and School Committee. <br /> The motion was made by Selectman Hanson to hire an independant <br /> auditor at the Board of Selectmen' s expense at a. later date. The motion <br /> was seconded by Selectman Lawrence. The vote of the Board is unanimous. <br /> The vote is 5-o. <br /> Jim Conery asks how soon? The School Committee welcomes the audit. <br /> Kevin Harrington will schedule for the auditor and advise the School <br /> Committee of the date of the audit. <br /> L_ <br />
