Doherty Slot I achiness <br /> Mr. Doherty was present to discuss the consideration of legalizing <br /> slot machines on Cape Cod, He believes it is a possible solution to <br /> raise municipal Funds and boost the economy. <br /> One thousand machines installed Capewide could generate approximately <br /> -'lo million dollars in revenue. One million of that would be paid t <br /> the Town and County For license and assessment of property. Slot machines <br /> would be installed in existing resort locations. <br /> This is legalized gambling explains Mr. Doherty, The advantage i <br /> attracting tourism and the international visitor. Every coin deposited <br /> 0 <br /> is recorded and transaction's are made on a daily basis. A game room <br /> would contain approximately twenty-five machines, <br /> Selectman CaFflyn asked where the machines would be located in <br /> Mashpee' Mr. Dohery explained the Board of Selectmen would have the <br /> power on the location aspect. <br /> Mir. Dohery asked for no Formal vote from the Board or backing. <br /> The proposal is in the preliminary stages and he is gathering opinions. <br /> He asks the Board for an 'indication if this could be supported in the <br /> future? <br /> Selectman Lawrence indicatfd a. referendum ballot question would <br /> obtain voter approval or denial. It is difficult- to speak on behalf <br /> of the Town. <br /> Selectman- Hanson believes this effort bears consideration. In <br /> today' s economic time, this effort Focuses on our area vs. the state <br /> lottery. <br /> Selectman Jacobson thanked Mr. Doherty for the introduction, She <br /> asks Mr. Doherty to keep the Board informed and updated with current <br /> information on this subject matter, <br /> 7: 24 p.m. N.E. Tei. hone Permit for Underground Fuel Storms go <br /> Selectman Jacob son rade note the license application states the <br /> location to be 'la uoit Road when it is actually Great Neck Road North. <br /> She asks Town Counsel if theapplication being incorrect will have an <br /> effect on the public hearing? <br /> Town Counsel advises the public hearing notice was correct. The <br /> plan was submitted and is a part of the record. The application error <br /> could be armned now and the Board can go Forth with the public hearing. <br /> He asks the Board to include in the motion to indicate the correct <br /> street address. <br /> Mr. Douglas Knapp was present for discussion as well -as Deputy <br /> George Baker, Deputy Baker indicated there are no objections to the <br /> plans as submitted, He has worked with Crowley Engineering and has x <br /> communicated with the Board of �Heal.th on this concern. There is no <br /> problem in his opinion. <br /> Selectman Hanson asked of another Facility in Town involving the <br /> process of tank installations He asks if this issue has been resolved? <br /> As reported by Chief Ridgeway, this is another concern dealing with <br /> larger tank- �w ; has been appealed. <br /> Mr. Knapp informs the Board this is a replacement tank that is <br /> approximately 17years old. Selectman Caffyn asks of the tank' s capacity? <br />
