It is not necessary to <br /> have the tanks in the groin . It was noted by George Baker the <br /> i <br /> placement below ground is for protection against vandalism. A. second- <br /> ary containment is required if the placement is above ground. <br /> Regulations are updated every six months for groundwater protection <br /> states Mr. Baker. The plan has met with the state regulations. <br /> Selectman Danson asked if the Cape Cod Omission were involved? <br /> Selectman Gottlieb, replied the answer is no. It is not in a ground <br /> grater protection district. <br /> Selectman Gottlieb is in favor. With the latest technolgy, it <br /> is in a better position than with steel tanks. This i s a -pu le lined <br /> tank with an alarm. The piping is also double lined. <br /> The motion was made by Selectman Gottlieb to grant the license <br /> application of New England Telephone and Telegraph to store fuel <br /> underground at the Mashpee Central Office at the correct location <br /> n Great Neck Road North. <br /> The motion wa.s seconded by Selectman Lawrence. The vote is <br /> favorable with the Board. The vote is -1 with Selectman Ca fyn <br /> opposed, <br /> 7 <br /> * .m. Shellfish Closure for el moff' C�ontar ina.ted S :l '�: <br /> The area of discussion is approximately 1 acnes below the law <br /> tide nark on the east-.-end of Popponesset Spit reported Mr. Somerville. <br /> He has talked with George Benway III on this concern so it will not <br /> interfere with boating activities* <br /> Selectman Caffyn asked of the timing and the possible wait until <br /> fall for the closure. It was replied by fir. Somerville the concept i <br /> to bring more shellfish to Town and it is in accordance with the state <br /> relay for spring tiring to obtain the spawn of shellfish, This has <br /> been a firm policy. The area will be well marked and there have been <br /> no problems with other relays. <br /> Selectman Gaffyn asked of the liability to the Town if one ate <br /> contanimated clams' Town Counsel advised the area will be posted and <br /> marked. If people dug in the area, they would be in violation to thein <br /> license. <br /> The motion was made by Selectman Gottlieb to approve the closing <br /> as requested effective sunrise June 1, 1991 until Further notice, <br /> The motion was seconded by Selectman Lawrence. The vote of the Board <br /> is unanimous. The vote is 5-0. <br /> 7:41 p.m. Selectman Hanson has left the Meeting. <br /> L_ <br />
