The School Department <br /> has started the process to seek permission from the state and obtain <br /> engineering services <br /> new well was installed without permission in 1989 near the old <br /> well. The response from DEQ' was without approval. It is not in the <br /> appropriate loc ti n. . uf'f'er zone and blueprints have to be drawn, <br /> Selectman Hanson asks of the cost estimate? The approximate <br /> total cost is $10t000 states Dr. DeMoura, The School Department is <br /> asking the Board to consider $5, 000 in assistance towards the new well. <br /> Selectman*Hanson asks if it was considered to leave the Town offices <br /> here and select another location for the kindergarden children? When <br /> considering the overall cost to relocate the Town Hall personnel and to <br /> install a new well for the students, it was suggested by Selectman Hanson <br /> to choose another avenue for the children with cost consi derations. <br /> This is a viable option to explore states Dr. Del oura..although -the <br /> standards for kindergarden are rigorous. <br /> Selectman C affyn asks of the time fume and if the School Committee <br /> has studied the long tern range for facilities? The time frame is one <br /> year from now reports Dr. De Moura. The school facilities needs plan <br /> has been considered through the year 2020, <br /> Aildren. <br /> Ind 3 there are t o anticipated indergar*den It <br /> was noted by Dr. DeMoura this building was a kindergarden center before <br /> the opening of the Coombs School. <br /> Ke in Harrington has recommended the Board work with the School <br /> Department on this issue. His main concern is identifying a source <br /> for the funding. <br /> At the time there was not enough pressure in the building to flush <br /> the John or fire the boiler. The Board of Health had no problem issuing <br /> and emergency repair well permit of a 4,1 well i n the existing location <br /> of the 21' well. stated Mro McQuaide <br /> The state did a sanitary surrey of the well two to three months <br /> after the installation, The result was indeed the approval_ should have <br /> been made for the emergency well permit states Mr. McQuaid, There was <br /> an agreement of ,the well with the state as long as we didn' t increase <br /> the occupancy of the building, <br /> The state has been known in the past to grandfather water sources <br /> in the past states Mr. McQuaid. with no cafeteria in the building;. <br /> we could restrict to bottled water as an option to explore. lir. McQuaid <br /> has recommended to seek further information. <br /> The motion was rade by Selectman Caffyn for Elias McQuaid to seek <br /> further information on this subject matter and seek state approval. She <br /> suggests Mr. McQuaid return to the Board within 60 days for his recommend- <br /> ation. The motion was seconded b Selectman Lawrence. The vote of the <br /> Board is unanimous, The vote is 4-0. <br />
