BOARD OF SELECTMEN Page 6
MINUTES
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 1991
• Cape Cod Commission Application Appointments:
Mrs. Carol Jacobson:
Mrs. Jacobson has been known to be an environmentalist and would
like to see things done properly. The Commission is not there to stop
development. It is time consuming and expensive to go through the
Commission although in many cases they can go through rapidly and with-
out a large expense.
The Commission is a relatively new ballgame states Mrs. Jacobson.
It is one and a half years old and will be improved as things progress.
The whole system will improve.
Selectman Lawrence made note he is opposed to any Selectman
serving on the Commission. He asks Mrs. Jacobson if she is willing
to step down on the Board of Selectmen? He feels she has preconeieved
judgements and can' t be open to view in an overall manner fairly.
Selectman Caffyn has difficulty understanding how Mrs. Jacobson
will keep up with the demand requiring the same amount of hours as
Chairman of the Board of Selectmene), Mrs. Jacobson has been doing the
requirements with the amount of time involved. If she is not doing
it for one thing, she will be doing it for another. Mrs. Jacobson
also-notes she is in favor of the Commission and would like to see it
work for Mashpee.
It is the consensus of the Board to make the appointment next
• week for the Cape Cod Commission Representative to Mashpee.
8 :53 P.m. There was a discussion related to
pending litigation that might effect the pending litigation.
Selectman Caffyn suggests the letters released and the Executive
Session minutes be available at the Selectmen' s Office and library
for citizens to review the facts. Selectman Gottlieb also suggests
the information be presented in the Board' s informational packet on
Friday for review.
Selectman Hanson made note he is honoring the request of Attorney
Carter for the Board to reconsider the decision and possibly persue
avenues and have the church opened as a recreation center for the
children.
