Y
BOARD OF SELECTMEN Page 15
MINUTES
MONDAYt SEPTEMBER 90 1991
Recreation enter
We were still in the middle of negotiations. We said to them,
they said to us, we said ok, it sounds like a pretty good package*
On the 25th when we recieved this, we took it to the Board of Select-
men, It took place at the school, the night of the Annual Town Meeting
states Selectman Han on.
It was his last vote and we said what do you think of these ideas?
Do you want us to persue i t, do you want us to go ahead and talk with
Field' s Point and see if we can work this stuff out with TownCounsel?
And we voted on it 4-1. Andy voted against it, Andy had voted on an -
thing against it with concerns. of Field' s Point, He was against any-
thing with Field' s Point since the first da.y we discussed the property.
So 1t was a. -1 vote that we continue negotiations states Select-
man Hanson. It was based on this draft• That is .all! Thats all there
was was a, draft! All of a. sudden, this thing is not signed by any-
body.
ny-
od . We had no intentions of signing this thing. This is not the
document, If the Town is going to eater in. an agreement with somebody,
it is not going to be on the stationary of Field' s Point. It was a
draft, but nobody wants to accept that.
All I can say is that we were still in the process and when we
finalize this thing and Tom Counsel is satisfied that we got a pretty
good deal, then we come back to the Board of Selectmen and say here' s
what we've cone up with. You told us to persue it and here is our Final
product. Do you want it not` If rimy Board has said, it' s fine, we
would have turned to the townspeople and said ok, the Board of Selectmen
have come to an agreement on this issue.
We never got there! I never had the chance. I got hammered into
the ground at a. meeting right here states Selectman Hansnn. Everybody
jumped up and down over it. Communication from Town Counsel and his
concerns about a draft! That is why we are where we are right now.
Jerry was concerned and he had every right to be concerned. e have
sent over two years. Pizza was the farthest -thing n my rind when
starting talking about the Keeter property.
All I am saying is that is why we are here. Do I have any new
information? If anyone' s been hammered through this it is me and you
want to cut sae off. I don' t want to cut you off, I just want to
continue states the Chairmana
Nobody' s r' worked harder than what I 've been trying to do states
Selectman Hanson than Jerry and I and we got chewed off at the knuckles
for it. I don' t think it was fair. I think Town Counsel should of
taken a stronger stand as to where we were. He knew where we were.
So didn' t Kevin. Both of them should of stood up and shouted wait a,
minute, this is still the beginning of this, Before they had a. chance
to, it was hack, hack, hack, and here we are.
I have the-(..motion that was made the night that you voted for this
whatever we call it. The motion was made by Selectman Carter to support
the agreement with Field' s Point. The r o-tinn was seconded by Selectman
Hanson. The vote is favorable. It does not call for a draft reports
Selectman Cafflyn, It does not call for it to be sent to Mr. Reardon,
The motion was made to support the agreement, We do that all the time
states Mr. Carter,
