Selectman Jacobson, Selectman Gottlieb, Selectman Hanson, <br /> Selectman Lawrence, Selectman Caffyn <br /> Executive Secretary Kevin J. Harrington <br /> Guests: Denise Sullivan, Catherine Conroy, Jane Stockbridge, <br /> Ben Lo chi , George Costa, Trisha currier <br /> The meeting was Called to Order by Chairman Jacobson at 7: 08 p.m. <br /> D.P.W. Interviews <br /> Selectman Jacobson made note the -three applicants will be interview- <br /> ed one at a. time on an individual basis,, She recieved a statement from <br /> the Personnel Board that the bacgreun.d checks on the applicants have <br /> been completed. The information a.tion ha.s been verified and there are <br /> favorable comments on each applicant as reported by Marilyn Farren. <br /> Selectman Jacobson and Selectman Caffyn were present for the interviews <br /> of the candidates by the Personnel Board. <br /> Mr.- Wayne Duchemin <br /> Selectman Hanson asks Mr. Duchemin why he is here? Mr. Duchemin <br /> replied he has a. keen interest in persuing this position, He was <br /> laid off in February from his position with the Mass. DPW, <br /> Mr. Duchemin wants to remain in the transportation and highway <br /> field. He feels it is a good opportunity. This being his hone town, <br /> he is familiar with .issues and would like to continue with some of <br /> the work he has been involved in, <br /> For Five and a half years: Mr. Duchemin has been involved with <br /> high level decisions, He has worked closely with DPU Directors on <br /> the Cape and is familiar with the issues on a local level as well as <br /> participating in some of the issues. <br /> Mr. Duchemin does not have a supervisors license, but is willing <br /> to obtain one to fulfill this position. His drivers license is stand- <br /> ard. When asked by Selectman Hanson if he had experience in running <br /> department with over twelve men acing different jobs, Mr. Duchemin <br /> stated no, He has not done direct supervisory work and lacks experience <br /> in the maintenance of buildings. <br /> The position is to require someone well rounded states Selectman <br /> Hanson. He asks Mr. Duchemin if he can deal easily with the public <br /> and the complaints that may arise. Mr. Duchemin emin did that on a day to <br /> clay basis while he worked for the state, He has dealt with the general <br /> public and has worked closely with the mbdia, <br /> Selectman Caffyn asks what Mr. Duchemin considers his major <br /> achievements as they apply to the DPU ? He has had' a.lot to do with <br /> the reduced salt policy on the Cape especially in the sensitive areas, <br /> Using the establishment of the corridor of concern a.s an approach to <br /> solve some of the traffic problems by using the state government as <br /> a friend is also a considered achievement, <br /> Mr. Duchemin was asked if he considered himself to be on the same <br /> level as a. Civil Engineer since that is the preferred requirement for <br /> the position. Mr. Duchemin feels he can sit in the same room with an <br /> engineer and talk apples for apples on the same level, Although he <br /> has no degree, he has the ability. <br />
