,w <br /> BOARD OF SELECTMEN Page 7 <br /> MINUTES <br /> MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 1991 <br /> School Enrollment and Davis School Well: <br /> The Coombs School and Diddle school are at capacity reports <br /> Dr. Deura., The School Department is proposing to move the entire <br /> krnderga.rden classes to the Davis School next year and will consider <br /> moving a portion of the fourth grade from the Middle School to the <br /> Coombs School. There is no additional room. The movement to the Davis <br /> School will give us about two years states Dr. Del oura.. <br /> Selectman Oaffyn suggests for a workshop discussion to be held <br /> with the Board to obtain an indepth discussion on the additional space <br /> requirements and the use of the Davis School. <br /> Selectman Jacobson noted the workshop meetings of the Board will <br /> cease until we have obtained full board capacity, <br /> Davis School Well: <br /> Regulations mandate the rolocating of the well reports Dr. DeMoura., <br /> The School Department has gone ahead with the engineering spending <br /> over $4, 000 to date, <br /> Dr. ; De Ioura. asks the Board for their support for this unforseen <br /> expense* Approki a.tel $5, 500 is requested by the School Depa.rtrr nt. <br /> Nor. Harrington is willing to discuss the transfer of funds with <br /> the Finance Committee if so directed by the Board. At this point, -there <br /> is no planned funding source. The money could only be derived through <br /> Legal and Engineering Fees, <br /> Is the School Department to assume the total cost to rove the <br /> k indergar•den children asks Dr. Petti If you have the money and we <br /> don' t, the answer is yes replys Selectman Jacobson. <br /> If the figure of $5, 500 is confirmed to suffice the installation <br /> costs and bring back water to this building, Selectman Hanson is in <br /> favor. Selectman Caffyn asks of the time frame involved? <br /> The actual need is for next September states Dr. DeMoura.. One of <br /> the requirements for DEP is to install the well and take samples. <br /> This is a. legimitate use of the reserve states Mr. Vaccaro. He <br /> asks if this can be put off .until spring when money would be available, <br /> He recommends to talk with himself or John Ferriday of this concern, <br /> If need be, the money will be advanced. <br /> NEW B S IX ES S-: <br /> Diddle School, for Recreational Activity: <br /> Selectman Caffyn read' her memo on the Increased Usage of School <br /> Facilities for Community Recreational Activities to the Board and residents <br /> of Mashpee present. <br /> The motion was rade -by Selectman Caffyn to discuss the use of <br /> school facilities for community recreation. The motion was seconded <br /> by Selectman Lawrence, The vote of the Board is unanimous. The vote is <br /> 4-00 <br /> Selectman Jacobson thanks Dr. Del oura and the School Committee <br /> for this has been a. long concern of the Town. It is the first step <br /> forward to make the facility available. <br /> Dean Driscoll is willing to develop activities and the Friends of <br /> Mashpee Youth ill be responsible for supervision states p p to Selectman Jacob <br /> son. <br />
