i <br /> TA , <br /> ti <br /> 5 <br /> BOARD OF SELECTMEN <br /> MINUTE <br /> MONDAY, FEBRUARY 3r 1992 <br /> Present : Selectman Jacobson, Selectman caffyn, Selectman Lawrence, <br /> Selectman Mills <br /> Executive Secretary Kevin J, Harrington <br /> Absent : Selectman Vaccaro <br /> Guests : Greg Taylor, Beidre Greelish, George costa, BillJones, <br /> Denise Sullivan, Deputy Baker, chief Ridgeway, Paul Ott, <br /> Stephen Greelishr Bill Hauck, Gail McDonald , Lia Oakley <br /> The Meeting was called to Order by Chairman Jacobson at 7 : 00 p.m. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES: <br /> January 6 , 1992 : The acceptance of the minutes will be head <br /> pending the review from Selectman caffyn. . <br /> January 1 , 1992 ; Selectman caffyn will review the discussion <br /> of Beechwood Point. <br /> *January 27 , 1992 : The motion was made by Selectm-an Lawrence <br /> to approve the minutes of January 27, 1992 Regular and Executive <br /> Sessions . The motion was seconded by Selectman Mills . The Grote is <br /> favorable. The vote is -0. Selectman caffyn abstained from voting. <br /> PUBLIC DISCUSSION: <br /> Janet Walsh of T,ir berlane Drive questioned the effectiveness of <br /> the dispatch system. With concerns towards the incident on Santuit <br /> Pond, she informs the Board that it took four rims for the phone to <br /> be answered. She indicat.e8 the person said "hello" and not Mashpee <br /> Fire Department . <br /> There was one dispatcher on duty reports Gail McDonald. He was <br /> taking a call on the other lime pertaining to this incident. She notes <br /> the Fire- Department automatically pick up the phone after, three rime <br /> since it is an indication the dispatcher is occupied. <br /> Ms . McDonald recommends that two dispatchers be on duty during <br /> the 8 :00 to 4: 00 and 4: 00 to 12 : 00 shifts so this type of incident <br /> would not occur. <br /> Mr. Harrington related that he has reviewed the tape and has met <br /> with chief Frye and chief Ridgeway regarding the incident. - He indicates <br /> Ms . Oakley d i d a fantastic ' job. He notes the department was very busy <br /> with an accident earlier in the day. This incident involved mutual <br /> aid from neighboring towns. <br /> We have identified a real problem indicates Mr. Harrington. With <br /> this type of circumstance, two dispatchers would be more beneficial <br /> than one. <br /> The efforts of the dispatchers and civilians are commendable <br /> denotes Selectman Mills . Selectman Jacobson agrees . Mr . Wallace, his <br /> grandson, Mr. Coffey, his son and all on the scene did a good job. <br /> L <br />
