x <br /> BOARD of SELECTMEN <br /> MINUTES-SPECIAL MEETING <br /> THURSDAY, AUGUST 1992 <br /> Present : Selectman Caffyn, Selectman Vaccaro, - Selectman Mills , <br /> Selectman Jacobson, Selectman Costa <br /> Executive Secretary Robert Whritenour <br /> Assistant Town Counsel Leslie Ann Morse <br /> Guests : Attorney Randall, Attorney Avery, Chief Frye, <br /> Meeting Called to order by Chairman Caffyn at 8 :40 p,m. in <br /> the Great Room, Town Hall. <br /> Selectman Caffyn chose this opportunity to introduce <br /> Mashpee ' s new Executive Secretary Robert Whritenour to the <br /> citizens present. She indicates that he was selected over 130 <br /> applicants and will be an asset to the community. <br /> Mr. Whri tenour made note that he is looking forward to <br /> working with the community of Mashpee . He indicates the office <br /> is open at any time to any resident to discuss any concerns. <br /> For the record , Selectman Mills indicates that her husband <br /> is a member of the Tribal Counc i 1 . <br /> Selectman Caffyn cave an overview as to the reason for the <br /> Special Meeting being response and public comment to at request <br /> from the Mashpee wampanoag Indian Tribal Council to review the <br /> settlement that was reached in Federal court regarding the <br /> Hendricks - Mace Case . <br /> Introduction was given to present Attorney Morse and <br /> Attorney Randall whouxrd present to answer any questions relative <br /> to the Town of Mashpee ' s participation . Police Chief Frye WaS <br /> also available for comment , <br /> Attorney Avery in representation of the David Hendrick <br /> Estate was also available for comment regarding this public <br /> concern. <br /> s <br /> Attorney Morse indicated that she is available to answer any <br /> questions , but was not involved in the lawsuit itself . <br /> Attorney Randall relates that he was hired to defend the <br /> Town. of Mashpee in the initial suit brought forth by the <br /> Hendricks family. He notes that the suit arose two years after <br /> the alleged incievent . <br /> Attorney Randall initially represented all three <br /> defendants . This being the Town of Mashpee, Chief Frye and <br /> Sergeant Mace . A motion was filed which rewired Sergeant Mace <br /> to hire separate counsel responds Attorney Randall. <br />
