r <br /> BOARD OF SELECTMEN Page <br /> MINUTES-SPECIAL MEETING <br /> THUSI , AUGUST 2 , 199 - - <br /> i <br /> Mashpee resident Frank Docker asked- why sergeant Mace did <br /> not immediately resign from the Police Department? He states <br /> that it would of saved him a great deal of amoral and spriritual <br /> anguish. <br /> Mr. Hooker indicated that the white people should be present <br /> tonight to demand that Sergeant Mace be removed from the Police <br /> Force, He states that this room should be filled with white <br /> people to address the white racism sickness. <br /> The lied Americans -are the victims indicates Mr. Hooker. <br /> Until we heal ourselves , they will continue to be victims . He <br /> states that this action is' long overdue . <br /> Mashpee Wampanoag Indian Tribal council President, Earl <br /> Cash., Jr. indicated that this is a sensitivity issue and many <br /> residents present are related to David Hendricks. He asks the <br /> Board how they feel about this subject? <br /> Attorney Morse indicates that the selectmen have been <br /> advised by Town Counsel to not speak on this issue. <br /> Selectman Costa states that this is heard "loud and clear" <br /> in his- opinion. Selectman Vaccaro agrees . Selectman Costa <br /> indicates that the residents have to respect the fact that the <br /> Selectmen cannot give immediate answers tonight. x <br /> Mr. cash gave indication that they are tired of being <br /> pacified. Something has to be done soon. We are not going to <br /> sit bac} , like your used to us doing and let this be swept under <br /> 'the carpet . <br /> Mr. cash indicates that crucial evidence was destroyed by <br /> the Police Department so Sergeant dace could be found not <br /> guilty . He relates that the Judge in chambers indicated that he <br /> felt Sergeant dace should receive some psychological help. <br />' <br /> Mr. Cash states that this is not a Hendricks issue anymore, <br /> There are issues to address with the Police Force . He recommends <br /> for Chief Frye to review his Police Force and what he is working <br /> with. Did sergeant Dace follow proper procedures when he sought <br /> David Hendricks? <br /> i Mr. Cash also states that if this were you, would this still <br /> be going on after four years? <br /> i <br />
