BOARD OF SELECTMEN • MINUTES THURSDAY,AUGUST 20, 1992 Present: Selectman Caffyn, Selectman Vaccaro, Selectman Mills , Selectman Jacobson, Selectman Costa Executive Secretary Robert Whritenour Guests : Rita Sousa , Jane Stockbridge, Deidre Greelish Meeting Called to Order by Chairman Caffyn at 6 :08 p.m. EXECUTIVE SECRETARY REPORT: Mr. Whritenour made note of the recent draft of the revised Cherry Sheets and the key changes from the original. Of the $23 ,000,000 lottery fund, Mashpee is to receive the allocation of $34,048 . Mashpee will also receive the sum of $113 ,008 per pupil expenditure. Mr. Whritenour indicates that the $100 per pupil expenditure was approved and is equal to educational opportunity grant funds. The funds are to go to the School Department, but not usually appropriated in the regular School budget . Additional reimbursement for state owned land amounts to $124 , 865 informs Mr. Whritenour. Changes in county tax will give • an additional $125,000 in funding capacity. This should be addressed in the October Town Meeting relates Mr. Whritenour. Options include placement in the Reserve Account, Stabilization, Overlay or funding of other articles . Mr. Whritenour indicates that it is not knowbto date as to what is available for appropriation. This will be determined in a few weeks . He notes that it is approximately $300,000. Selectman Vaccaro asks if the tax bills will be sent out on time? Mr. Whritenour indicates that there will be a preliminary tax bill sent out for October 1 , 1992 . He notes that the numbers are used prior to the update of the cherry sheet. Selectman Vaccaro asks if Mashpee will receive credit from Falmouth with regards to the per pupil state aid? Mrs. Greelish indicates that a memo was received from Falmouth crediting tuition.n. She notes that approximately 250 Mashpe students attend Falmouth High School. Selectman Vaccaro recommends to review the existing budget and the unemployment insurance account. •
