BOARD OF SELECTMEN Page <br />MINUTES <br />MCND Y, FFBRU RY 2.1, 1993 <br />Fire Chief Resi nation continued <br />Selectman Vaccaro stated The Town of.Mashpee is far better <br />of f since Fire Chief Ridgeway came aboard five years ago, and - he <br />wished hire well. Chairman Caf fyn and other Board Members joined <br />in wishing him well, and thanked him for his outstanding service <br />to The Town of Mashpee. <br />***The motion was made by Selectman Vaccaro The Board <br />accept the resignation of Fine Chief Robert Ridgeway effective <br />April 12, 199 ; the motion was made second by Selectmen Judy <br />Mills ; , motion- passed. VOTE: Unanimous. -0'. <br />Daniel C. Hostetter re: Golf Course Pro oral. <br />Mr. Hostetter stated he represents the Cota.chesset <br />Corporation of Ostervillev Massachusetts. His appointment this <br />evening concerns his letter to the Mashpee Board of Selectmen <br />dated January 26, 1993. The letter outlines the corporation's <br />proposal to the Town to build a public, daily fee, championship. <br />golf course and training center located off of Newtown Road <br />straddling the towns of Mashpee and -Barnstable. Attached to the <br />letter is a proposed. warrent Article to find out i f the Town will <br />vote to authorize and direct The Board of Selectmen to evaluate <br />and negotiate a potential land exchange with the corporation. <br />Mr, Hostetter stated his purpose for corning before The <br />Hoard this evening is to answer any questions on the proposed <br />plans and to find out if The Selectmen had any interest in <br />preliminary discussions before the issue is brought to the May <br />Town Meeting. He explained the proposal in detail, which <br />includes a land swap of a portion o f the corporation's waterfront <br />land located on Santuit Pond for about ' ten acres of Town land <br />obtained through tax foreclosure and which consists of interior <br />lots with no access., The land swap includes provision to The <br />Town with a nature trail easement along the perimeter of the <br />corporation's land to enable public access around Santuit Pond. <br />He also explained the many benefits for the Town which are <br />outlined in his letter. <br />Lively discussion -followed. Mr, Hostetter stated the <br />corporation is currently negotiating with The Mills Family for a <br />possible land -swap, or purchase, which would enable an 1-hole <br />golf course to be built instead of a -dole course incorporating <br />only the.Town-owned property alone with the corporation's land. <br />He submitted a snap to The Board, which was not previously <br />available. Board members reviewed the map at length. Selectman <br />Mills stated The Board needs more specifics regarding the land, <br />Selectmen Costa and Vaccaro expressed concern regarding the 108 <br />condo' permits. Mr. Hostetter explained the condo permits have <br />expired and cannot be renewed; condos would not be appropriate at <br />
