i OD of SELECTMEN Page 10 MINUTES MONDAYO, MARCH 199 9:05 p.m. School Committee re: SRecial Town Meeting e Dr. DeMoura and School Committee members were present to request the selectmen schedule a Special Town Meeting for the purpose of constructing a jr/sr high school facility. David Consalvi, Chairman of the school Committee indicated that the School Committee is opposed to the warrant article being placed on the annual Town Meeting ballot, He submitted a petition that was initiated to schedule a Special Town Meeting to address this concern Dr. DeMoura indicated that the language in the ballot question would vote to appropriate a sum of money to be borrowed as needed and not exceed a certain amount to obtain funding for the entire pro f ect . Selectman vaccaro recommended to incorporate the warrant article in the Annual Town Meeting to sage the town $1400. one night could be dedicated solely for the purpose of discussing the high school article. Selectman vaccaro also recommended to include in the warrant, the establishment of a building committee for this purpose and related architectural fees. This is the traditional Is format noted Selectman Vaccaro rather than appropriating a sum of money for the entire project* The Doan concurred with Selectman accaro' s recommendation since the Annual Town Meeting is scheduled on May 3, 199 . Discussion followed relative to the School Department's expense warrants for February 1 , 1993 of which the Selectmen have been advised by the Finance Committee Chairman to be excessive as it relates to the purchase of a computer system for administrative purposes.' Selectman Caffyn voiced concern to -the excessive cost of the computer system and the final approval. of the Selectmen authorizing the expenditure of tax dollars. She asks Dr. DeMoura to complete the request of February 16, 1993 and provide the purchase order and date of installation of the computer system. I*
