The primary
concern of the island residents is the poor condition of the
guard rails that lime the Waquoit Bay side of the causeway
leading to seconsett Island. This is considered to be a safety
hazard informed Mr. ' Ma l ley- Keye .
The sea wall on which the guard rails are set appear to be
eroding at an alarming rate as a result of Hurricane Bob and
recent storms noted Mr. 'Malley Keyes.
The wooden staircase that led to the stall beach located off
the causeway was . also destroyed informed Mr. O'Malley -Keyes. The
econsett Island Association has requested the Town place a more
permanent staircase to restore access to the beach.
Mr. Taylor indicated that the Department of Public Works has
done roadwork as damaged by Hurricane Bob. He noted that he is
unable to go forward with the permitting process to replace the
stairs. He has no record of the stairs being on site.
Mr. O'Malley -Keyes indicated that he is able to furnish
photograph's of the stairway that will -aid Mr. Taylor's concern.
Concern was also voiced to the parking on the side of the
causeway that damages the marsh growth which prevents the bank
from eroding. This is are area of critical environmental concern
indicated Mrs O'Malley -Keyes. The island residents request the
Town place no parking signs on both sides of the causeway to
prevent further environmental harm.
Mrs. Taylor indicated that he is able to place no parking
signs on either side of the causeway. He will discuss this
concern with the Police Department, one -consideration is to
place no parking; tow zone signs for enforcement of the area.
*The concerns as addressed,by the Seconsett Island
Association will be placed on a future agenda when response is
obtained.
7:1 p.m. Director of Publicawor}s re: State Reimbursed Road
Proiects:
Mr. Taylor was present to discuss the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts Reimbursed Road Projects with the Board* six
projects were prioritized by Mr. Taylor for review.
