i <br />w <br />BOARD OF SELECTMEN Page <br />MINUTES <br />MON AY, MARCH 8r 1993 <br />7:50 p.m. Waterways omission re: Communications Goals and <br />Responsibilities: <br />Ben Gordon and Jinn Hanks were present to discuss <br />communications, goals and responsibilities of the Waterways <br />Commission with the Board. <br />Review was ma de of the current projects the Waterways <br />Commission is actively involved in. This includes a Boating in <br />Mashpee brochure focusing mainly on Waquoit and Poppone set <br />Bays. The brochure will be available in two to three months <br />informed Mr. Gordon. <br />The Waterways Commission plans to form a small committee to <br />develop a plan. to solve the problems associated with Popponeset <br />Bay and the Spit indicated Mr. Gordon. We will continue to work <br />with regulatory agencies to develop long range solutions. <br />A mandatory training program for all Assistant Harbormasters <br />will he conducted in the spring informed Mr. Gordon. This will <br />include CPR. <br />The Waterways Commission is currently working with property <br />owners and fishermen with regards to the use of Mashpee Wa ehy <br />Pond noted Mr. Gordon. <br />New equipment will be requested in April to fund new buoys <br />and 6 mpb signs informed' Mr. Gordon. Funding is available and <br />approved by the May 1992 Town Meeting article. <br />The Waquoit Bay; No Discharge Designation is currently under <br />review related Mr. Gordon as well as efforts to review dock <br />permits. <br />A cooperative effort involving the Conservation Commission, <br />Waterways, Shellfish and Department of Public Works will aid in <br />removing large debris from the bays informed Mr. Gordon. <br />r. Gordon indicated that the Harbormaster's term i s to <br />expire on July 1, 1993, The Waterways Commission has recommended <br />to advertise for the position and offer input into the interview <br />process. <br />*The discussion of the Harbormaster's appointment will be. <br />placed on the Board's agenda of March 15, 1993 for further <br />review* <br />
