y � t <br />• 4 <br />[i w <br />,BOARD OF SELE&MEN Page <br />MINUTES <br />MONDAY MAY_24r 1993 <br />Sheriff DeMello - E911: <br />If finances ar.e d i f f icl t, Sheriff DeMel to recommended to <br />select the 'county E911 option. I have reviewed priorities and <br />funding to make this service free of charge indicated Sheriff <br />Deiel 1 o . <br />The policies will be governed by each participating town <br />informed Sheriff DeMel lo. Mashpee will be permitted to develop <br />policies that may -be different from other cape towns. <br />Mr. George Baker and selectman Costa indicated that they <br />have confidence in the -regional system'* e don't have the <br />ability to access . the information in an emergency situation <br />related Mr. Baker. our commitment is towards duality <br />communications. This is an administrative challenge in <br />dispatching. <br />Selectman caffyn indicated that she voted against the <br />regional.otin. This system will not make our dispatching <br />work any better. Selectman Caffyn indicated that the E911 will <br />e effective on the local level. <br />As a member of the E911 Review committee, selectman Costa <br />indicated that after a thorough study, we recommended the <br />regional option for cost savings and duality of service. The <br />regional option is in the best interest of the town noted <br />Selectman Costa. <br />Selectman Mills who also served on the E911 Review committee <br />indicated that dispatchers have a high level of stress. If the <br />regional system reduces the stress, it will make the dispatchers <br />job much easier. selectman Mills indicated that she will insist <br />upon an absolute escape clause in the regional agreement. 4 <br />Selectman Costa noted that the Fire Chief, Chief of Police <br />and dispatchers will set the regional policy and dictate how it <br />is to he run. <br />Selectman cafyn asked what formula -was used to <br />establish Mash ee,s dispatching needs? She was informed by <br />Acting Fire chief Baler that population growth and county <br />recommedations as to standard o,f care were reviewed to determine <br />Mash ee's needs. Objective form la's were also -taken from state <br />recommendations and professional su j ect ivi ty . <br />Chairman Vaccaro indicated that the Board voted on May 10, <br />1993 to adopt the County Regional E911 system, He asks if there <br />is a motion to rescind the Board's action. <br />*The motion was Made by selectman Caffyn to rescind the <br />Board's action of May 10, 1993 to adopt the Regional E911 <br />40 system. Being no second, the motion does not carry. <br />9:30 p.m. selectman Vaccaro called for a five minute recess. <br />Meeting will moue to the selectmen's conference Room. <br />
