BOARD OF SELECTMEN Page
MINUTES
M NDAYl, JULY 121 199 --.
orres ondence from Town Counsel re: Grievance:
Mrs. Pierce: Three of you, Costar Jim i . carol , were un-
true. Absolutely un-true and you don't have a shred of evidence
for i t . You based your votes on Bob Thr i tenour ' s report, Bob
Whritenour recommended -that she be allowed to continue for six
months..
Mrs. Pierce: So that we could straighten out some of this
business of rumor, things that were true and not true. You have
let us down previously. And, we are not going to forget it, In
the heat of this humidity, this terrible weather we have been
experiencing, a lot of us have been trying to get out petitions.
Mrs, Pierce: Now, its been very hot. Nobody really wants
to go out and stand in front of the post office and the library
to get them, but we have 224 names again for you, Two hundred
and twenty-four people who are outraged at the way you are
running this town!
Firs. Fierce: You know, your actions may pass, for.'.. some
of the thin s you are doing are sleeping under the log, but the
stench is awful and we don't like it! We are tired of it. We
want a town that is decently run. Open government, Carol, that
is your theme song. It has been. Open government. We want
reason. We know ghats going on underneath, there's just too
many people ratting on you. We want you to stand up and say it
to us, Isere are your petitions..
s. Hyde -Peed: I might add also that e...applaud...welve
got the State Ethics Commission involved, ..0 Elder Servicesâ–ş
although they cannot get involved politically, there are certain
people there ' advi s i rig us. This is not going away. This is the
most horrible thing that has happened in Mashpee in my nine
years.
Ms, Hyde -Reed: I personally was selected by Carol Jacobson
to serge on the COA, much as, I don't know another person on the
board who was not selected,by carol. She said who do you thinkr
and we picked those people. And I didn't realize what an abuse
that was in my ignorance here. But now, I think we need to do
that differently.
Ms. Hyde -Reed: We want one of us on the board, or Margie,
someone that is going to ...we want someone that is going to run
a true meeting* And if you listen to those tapes, than is not a
professional meet in, I don't know what has happened. I ]snow I
wasn't right for it at the time. I had a very ill husband, but I
think -there is people who are ]getter qualified to do that right
now,*
0
