BOARD of SELECTMEN Page <br />MINUTES <br />IS NBA, MAY 1OL1993 <br />7:30 p.m. Elias McQuaid- TEAC Report: <br />Elias McQuaid, TEAL Representative was present to give the <br />Board an update of the John's Po d Ash met Pond Studer reviewed at <br />the last TEAL Meeting. <br />Mr, McQuaid issued a map to the Board showing the location <br />of the samples taken in. John's Pond and Ashumet Pond. Samples <br />were taken from surface water, storm water and fish samples <br />informed Mr, McQuaid* <br />M. McQuaid indicated that there will he further sampling of <br />the ponds in the two year program of study. <br />Both ponds meet the ambient surface water quality informed <br />Mr. McQuaid. No vo's were detected in storm water tests. <br />Samples were taken from different types of fish located in the <br />ponds and resulted. in normal range noted Mr. McQuaid. <br />Mr. McQuaid indicated that results of the health index study <br />of fish sampling remains pending. He noted that catfish appeared <br />to be in poorer health than the large mouth bass tested. The <br />poor health was noted to be a result of a liver/kidney parasitic <br />or bacterial infection. The poor health of the catfish is not <br />chemical informed Mr. McQuaid. The pending results should <br />confirm this to be of viral or bacterial origin noted <br />Mr. McQuaid. <br />In conclusion, both ponds are safe to swim in and eat fish <br />from indicated Mr. McQuaid. He will continue to update the Board <br />on activities of TEAL Meetings. <br />p.m. Citizens for the Protection of Wa unit Bay re: <br />Conservation Restriction Program: <br />Francis LeBaron, Treasurer of the Citizens for the <br />Protection of Waquoit Bair, Inc. and Mark Robinson, Executive <br />Director of The Compact of Cape Cod Conservation Trusts were <br />present to discuss the Conservation Restriction Program with the <br />Board. <br />For the record, selectman Vaoearo indicated that his firm, <br />The Survey Center is a paid consultant to the Land "Trust Alliance <br />and Land Conservation Legal Institute. There does not appear to <br />e a conflict of interest to Selectman Vacoaro participating in <br />the discussion of the Conservation Restriction Program. <br />
