4 BOARD OF SELECTMEN Page MINUTES THUR S DAY, JULY 8r 1993 Harbormaster Interviews: Perry Ellis; Mr. Ellis indicated that he helped to set up the Ma h ee Shellfish Commision, He has no problem taking direction from other departments. During peak hours, Mr. Ellis indicated that he would be a. "hands on" Harbormaster and work closely with related groups. Mr. Ellis is booming familiarized with computers and has experience managing personnel. Seventy-five to eighty-five percent of his time during season will be on the water. To issue a ticket will be dependent upon the individual noted Mr. Ellis. Selectman Jacobson indicated that she has had previous positive experience in working with Mr. Ellis. p.m, Selectman Vaccaro in-dicated that the appointment of Harbormaster will be taken under advisement at this time. Mr. Gordon noted that Mr. Hans and his wife will volunteer to assist the candidate in computer usagee Selecttan Mills indicated that she is impressed with the desire of Mr. Ellis to come back to the community. His background offers more intimate knowledge of Mashpee ' s waterways. Selectman Caffyn gave support to Hank Madden. He has made changes, corrections and improvements to the department. The collections have increased and he actively attend ' s meetings. He - also incorporated the training program noted Selectman Caffyno Mr. Ellis offers police support indicated Selectman Jacobson. When he was employed in Marshpee, he was well liked by the community.. The mooring situation has improved as a result of a lot of people working on it noted Selectman Jacobson. It is obvious that Mr. Ellis is down to earth and is easy going. He is anxious to be in Mahpee to do the job. Mr. Madden has done a good job in a lot of areas related Selectman Vaccaro, The condition of the boats and moorings have unproved. I recognize that he has fallen short is some areas, but I feel he will follow through in some of the recommendations as made tonight.
