x <br />0 <br />BOARD of SELECTMEN Page <br />MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER r 1993 <br />Public Hearing: <br />Small Cities Grant <br />Selectman vaccaro Called the Public Dearing to order at <br />p.m. for the purpose of discussing Mashpee's application for <br />a FY 1993 Massachusetts Small Cities Program Community <br />Development Fund Grant. Selectman vaccaro read aloud the Public <br />Hearing notice as published, <br />Sharon Travers Gay of STGConsultant Services was present to <br />discuss the list of proposed project components as prepared for <br />submission to EOCD. It was noted that the small Cities Grant <br />application is due on September 10, 19930 <br />Mr. Whritenour indicated that the list of proponents were <br />compiled as a result of goals as set forth by the Board of <br />Selectmen* Input was also obtained.from Department Heads, the <br />Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal Council and Outreach/Human Service <br />providers. <br />The proponents as developed in the Community Action <br />Statement identified important community development needs <br />indicated Mr. Whritenour. <br />Key components of the proposed Town of Mashpee FY 1993 <br />Massachusetts small Cities Grant Program application include; <br />Senior Center Kitchen Renovations. <br />Renovations to the Senior Center Kitchen will essentially <br />finish the senior Center project informed Mr . Whritenour . Key <br />items include completing the downstairs kitchen/food service <br />area and connecting the center to municipal water supply. <br />Mr. Thritenour -indicated that'the existing residential well <br />is inadequate and does not meet Department of Environmental <br />Protection DEP standards. <br />The second major component of the application will allow for <br />Sidewalk Construction on old Barnstable Road and Route 11 <br />informed Mr. Writenour. <br />The proposed walkway will begin in the area of Mashpee <br />Village on old Barnstalbe Road to include a portion of route 151 <br />to the shopping center. This is a very busy and dangerous area <br />noted Mr. Writenour. The Board of Selectmen deemed this section <br />of Town as a high priority area for sidewalks informed <br />Mr. Whritenour, <br />
