• t <br />d <br />4 <br />BOARD OF SELECTMEN Page <br />l <br />MINUTES <br />TUESDAYr SEPTEMBER 7, 19 <br />Public Hearing: <br />Small Cities Grant: <br />Legal Services for cape cod and the Islands has submitted a <br />proposal for a Battered Wor en ! s Legal Assistance project <br />indicated Mr. Whritenour. <br />The proposal as submitted from Sight Loss Services is an <br />extension of services and not eligible -for funding noted <br />Mr. Whritenour. <br />Sharon Travers Gay and Selectman Nancy Oaffyn have <br />contributed a great deal of effort into the grant proposal <br />indicated Nor. Whritenour. We are hopeful to be eligible for <br />funding. <br />Nis. Travers Gay indicated that all grants are competitive <br />and based upon community needs. Massachusetts cities and towns <br />with populations of less than 50,000 are eligible grant <br />applicants. The minimum amount of funding is $100,000 noted <br />Nis. Travers Gay. The maximum amount is $800,0001. <br />This is one grant composed of several separate activities <br />indicated Nis. Travers Gay, Ninety communities are expected to <br />4D apply for funding. Approximately thirty will be funded.. <br />The program is designed to provide assistance for housing, <br />economic development, public facilities and infrastructure and <br />public and social services indicated Nis. Travers Gay. <br />Being no further comment, Selectman vaccaro closed the <br />Public Dearing at 7:40 p.m. <br />*The motion was made by Selectman caffyn to authorize <br />Chairman Vaccaro as Mashpee's Chief Elected Official to execute <br />the application to EO-CD for a FY 1993 Massachusetts Small cities <br />Program Community Development Fund Grant.
