BOARD OF SELECTMEN Page MINUTES MNDAY r SEPTEMBER 1 , 19 Public Safety Committee Report: To -consolidate the two departments would not be the most effective method of addressing the Towns management needs indicated Mr. Whriton ur. During the recent months, the committee has found that the general relationship of the two departments has improved indicated Mr. Whritenour. The committee has proposed to formulate a permanent Public Safety Management Committee -to -review issues pertaining to both departments and work in unison with both Chiefs to implement strategies to address areas of concern indicated Mr. whritenour. The proposed composition of such committee would include; the Police Chief, Fire Chief, two members of the Board of Selectmen, the Executive Secretary and Director of Public Works. Selectman Mills and Selectman Costa have offered to serge on the Public Safety Management Committee. *The motion was made by Selectman Jacobson to accept the Public Safety Study as compiled by Members of the Public Safety Study Committee, The motion was seconded by Selectman vaccaro. VOTE: Unanimous. - . **The motion was made by Selectman Jacobson to approve the formulation of a permanent Public Safety Management Committee as recommended. The motion was seconded by selectman Mills. VOTE: Unanimous. - . Appointment ,of Fire Chief: *The motion was made by Selectman Mills to place the appointment of a Fire Chief on the Board's agenda. The motion was seconded by Selectman Costa. VOTE: Unanimous. - . ***The motion was made by Selectman Mills to appoint George Baker as Mashpee's Fire Chief. The motion was seconded by Selectman Jacobson. VOTE: Unanimous. -. Selectman vaccaro noted that under normal circumstances? the Board would have advertised for the position. Due to this unique circumstance and outstanding performance of Mr, Baker, , the Board has elected to appoint him as permanent Fire Chief.
