f lk <br />BOARD of SELECTMEN <br />MINUTES <br />THURSDAY, OCTOBER 7r 199 <br />Present: selectman Vaccaro, Selectman Mills, Selectman Jacobson, <br />Selectman Caffynr Selectman Costa <br />Executive Secretary F'obert Whritenour <br />Guests: Betty Tones, Marilyn Farren, Paul Ott, <br />William Hansen <br />Selectman Vac aro Called the Special Meeting to Order at <br />2:00 p.m. <br />APPOINTMENTSAND HEARINGS: <br />Public Interviews of Finalists for the position of Director <br />of council on Aging and possible appointment of same. <br />Martha Plotkin-H ra <br />Martha Plotkin-Hyr , Director of Aging and Human services in <br />Fair ieldp Ct. was present as a finalist to discuss the position <br />of Director of Council on Aging with the Board of Selectmen. <br />Ms. Plotkin-Hyra indicated that professionally, she has met <br />her objectives as they pertain to her position as Director o <br />Aging and Human services in Fairfield. <br />Ms. Plotinc-Hyra indicated that she has implemented all <br />programs for Fairfield residents sixty and older. She began a <br />model program for the state of Connecticut. The position is a <br />matter of a maintenance type of position at this time.. <br />Ms, Plotkin-Hyra noted that she enjoys the creativity of <br />program development, she has recently relocated her residency -to <br />armouthport . <br />If appointed to the position of Council on Aging Director in <br />Mashpec, Ms. Plotkin-Hyra indicated that she will not be able to <br />begin working as Director on a full time basis until January 1, <br />19940 <br />M . 'Plot i. in-.H rat related that she is currently conducting <br />an evaluation/assessment study. and survey of the Senior center in <br />Fairfield. She would elect to remain in Fairfield until results <br />are obtained. <br />In Fairfield, Ms. P1otl in-Hyra has maintained a staff of <br />eighteen personnel 'in. addition t l volunteers from the council <br />and community. <br />
