V <br />BOARD of SELECTMEN Page <br />MINUTES <br />IS THURSDAY, OCTOBER 71 199 <br />APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br />Martha Plotkin-H ra: <br />Nis. Plotkin-Hyra indicated that she has 'good public and <br />community relations skills. She would incorporate diverse <br />programming to address the needs of all populations of all <br />levels of education and interest in Mashpee. <br />Nis. Plotkin-Hyra indicated that her management style is open <br />door with flexibility.' In terms of her ability, Nis. Plotkin <br />indicated that she desires to scale 'down to the reduced scope of <br />Mashpee as it compares to Fairfield's Aging and Human services. <br />Mashpee's diverse population is interesting related <br />Ms. Plotkin-H ra. The commonality of people -should be addressed <br />where people work together recommended Ms. Plotkin- Hyra . <br />The commission on Human Services in Fairfield is a twelve <br />member body appointed by the Board of selectmen indicated <br />Nis. Plotkin-Hyra. The commission moots on a monthly basis to <br />review the budget and oversee policy. <br />Nis. Plotkin-Hyra indicated that administratively, the Hunan <br />Service Commission was very effective. It made the relationship <br />stronger with the Senior Center. <br />2:45 p.m. <br />,dean Therrien: <br />Jean Therrien, a finalist o the position of Council on <br />Aging Director was present to discuss her credentials as they <br />pertain to Director. <br />Ms, Therrien resides in Taunton, MA and has had several <br />years experience directing programs in the field of aging in <br />southeastern Massachusetts. <br />. Therrien indicated that she began working with elders in <br />the late o's teaching exercise programs. This initiated her <br />interest that soon developed into health education and exercise <br />for fifteen communities.. <br />Ms. Therrien indicated that she is familiar with grant <br />writing. She attained a needs assessment grant allowing her to <br />conduct a survey which resulted in a response rate. <br />Nis. Therrien reviewed survey questions and results with the <br />Board. It was noted that the inter eneration l programs aided to <br />dispel stereotypes towards senior citizens. <br />
