BOARD OF SELECTMEN Page 2 <br />MINUTES <br />MONDAYe NOVEMBER 8r 1993 <br />_ <br />COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: <br />Proposed Center for Women: <br />Selectman Caffyn indicated that Independence Mouse, a center <br />for <br />abused women is seeking the selectmen's support to -utilize <br />the Pilgrims -Pride facility as a Cape Cod Center for Women. <br />This is a non-profit organization noted Selectman Ca f yn . <br />Enclosed for the Boards review was a list of funding initiatives <br />as compiled by Alice Boyd of Bailey Boyd A -sociates. <br />It is the consensus of the Board to schedule the above as a <br />future agenda item of discussion. Independence House will be - <br />requested to make at presentation to the Selectmen regarding their <br />proposal.. <br />NEW BUSINESS: <br />Appointment Program superb r <br />The Screening Committee comprised of representation from the <br />Personnel Board, Leisure Services Advisory Committeer Board.of <br />Selectmen and Executive Secretary voted unanimously -to recommend <br />the appointment of James Marr as Program Supervisor to the <br />Leisure services Department. <br />Gus Frederick in-dicated that Mr. Marr has a strong <br />background in recreation, physical education and leisure <br />services, He will be an asset to his departments <br />Selectman Oaf fyn also noted that Mr.. Marr is exper ienced an <br />trained in programming and management, He is well motivated for <br />the position. <br />***The motion was made by Selectman Caf fyn- to appoint James <br />E. Marr III as Program Supervisor -to the Leisure Services <br />Department as reoommen3e S The motion was seconded by selectman <br />Costa. VOTE: Unanimous. - , Selectman V-acearo absent. <br />Memo from the Chief of Police re: Appointment of eeiatl <br />Police Officer: <br />Police Chief Frye is in support of Harbormaster Ellis's <br />request to be appointed as a Special Police Officer. As noted by <br />Chief Frye's memo of October 26, 1993, the appointment will <br />expand his authority in law enforcement and enhance his duties as <br />Harbormaster.. <br />*The motion was made by Selectman Costa to appoint Perry <br />Ellis as a Special Police Officer as recor men �e �. The motion was <br />seconded y Selectman Caf fyn . VOTE: Unanimous, -. Selectman <br />Vaocaro absent. <br />
