e Except in emergency, ars approver- by the Department <br /> Head, no employee shall work more than two ( shafts per <br /> week of morethan eight (3) hours; no shift shall consist of <br /> more than twelve (1 consecutive hours and at least eight <br /> ( hours ,shall elapse between consecutive shifts for eaoh � <br /> person. <br /> (f) Except in emergency, police officers shall not work <br /> more than twelve 1 hours during any enty- -ur <br /> hour period, including both Town and outside work. <br /> 13. Paid RoUdays <br /> a The following days shall be recognized as legal holi- <br /> days within the meaning of The Plan: New Year's lay; <br /> Washington's Birthday; Patriots' lay; Memorial Day; Inde- <br /> pendenceDay; Labor Day; Columbus lay; Veterans Day; <br /> Thanksgiving Day; and Christmas lay. On these days, regu- <br /> lar employees shall be excused from all day duty, except <br /> those required to maintain essential Town services. Any <br /> required workers shall be given time off or compensation <br /> in -accordance with the provisions of the section on over- <br /> tinea at the discretion of the Department Head. <br /> (b) Every permanent employee shall be entitled to these <br /> designated holidays on the following terms: If paid on an <br /> hourly basis, he shall receive one (1) day's pay at -his regular <br /> rate based on the number of hours normally worked on the <br /> day when the designated holiday occurs; if paid on ,a weekly, <br /> semi-monthly or monthly basis, he shall be granted each <br /> designated holiday without loss in pay. However, the em- <br /> ployee (1) must work his last scheduled day before the holi- <br /> day and his first scheduled day after the holiday,, or must <br /> be,excused by the appropriate authority, or (3) must have <br /> an excuse acceptable to the Board for which the appropriate <br /> superior shall require proof and which shall be reported b <br /> the Department Head to the Board in writing. <br /> 14. Vacation Policy <br /> All full-tine employees of the Town, including hose of <br /> the Police and Fire Departments,, shall be entitled tG vaca- <br /> tions as f ollows <br /> a One (1) week after one (1) full year of employment; <br /> for less than one year, vacation will be pro-rated. <br /> {b Two ( weeks after -two ( years of service; non <br /> pro-rated. <br /> ( Three (3) weeks after five ( years of service; non <br /> pro-rated. <br /> d - Employees who are eligible for vacations under these <br /> axles and whose services are terminated by dismissal through <br /> no fault or delinquency of their own, or by retirement or b <br />
