RETIREMENT <br /> Introduction to Retirement <br /> The Town of Mashpee is a member of the Barnstable County <br /> Retirement System and is organized and operated under the <br /> provisions of Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 32. <br /> Membership in the system is required of all permanent <br /> full-time and certain part-tine employ es. The Retirement <br /> System provides pension benefits to members who reach <br /> retirement age, or are forced to retire because of <br /> disability. Benefits are also available to spouses and <br /> dependents under a variety of retirement options. <br /> The material in this section can only ive a summary overview <br /> of a complicated subject. For more information about your^ <br /> specific situation, you may contact the Retirement Board at <br /> 362-2511 or 1-800-237-9992. <br /> a <br /> Eligibility _#or Retirement <br /> Any person employed on a1 'permanent full-time basis prior to <br /> attaining age sixty-five is eligible for retirements In <br /> certain cases, persons employed for a continuous sic month <br /> period for a minimum of 25 fours per week (1300 hours per <br /> calendar year) are eligible. Membership is mandatory except <br /> far -elected officials who may elect to become members within <br /> ninety days o .co mencement of service, Your contributions <br /> to that retirement systsem are rade by means of payroll <br /> deductions. These deductions amount to % of your regular <br /> compensation if your employment commenced on or after January <br /> 1, 1784; seven percent if employment commenced on or of ter <br /> January 1, 1975 but prior to January 1, 1984; five percent if <br /> employment commenced prior to January 1, 1975. <br /> -1 - <br />
