Notes concerning R .S .V.P.
R .S .V.P. , works on a federal grant through the Cape Cod Community
College . They have three employed employees to develop this program
on the Cape, with theamount of $43, 000 to gain the towns in
local support.
Members must be 60 years of age or older. This is entirely a
volunteer program which entails a few hoes weekly to aid the
town with some worthwhile project . A member may not take an
individual's job or volunteer on a fulltime basis . ' Only mileage
of 10 is given and $1. 50 allowed, if this time volunteered
occurs during the lunch hour.
Finance .
The first year, 19% of the $43,000 should be non-federal funds ;
either made-up in cash or in time the volunteers used; figured
at a rate of $3.00 per hour.'
In the second year , 20% of this sum.
Working up to the fifth year which requires 50% of this amount .
The Selectmen questioned, "What happens if the federal funds
are pulled back in five years?"
Mrs. Converse felt this would not happen.
The Selectmen feel, this program would run into the Home Care
Program and others; with so many - none will receive proper
support. At this time no action will be taken.
jt
