Motion seconded by selectman <br /> Jacobson. VOTE; Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Recognition of Aurora Bird; <br /> Aurora Bird,recipient of the silver DOVE award was recognized by <br /> the Board of Selectmen for her volunteer efforts. IVB. Bird, a member of <br /> the Council on Aging has been a tireless volunteer for the senior <br /> community,the school system and town hall. <br /> Mrs. Bird was one of ten senior volunteers in the state to win this award. <br /> DOVE: Devoted Outstanding'volunteer to Elders. The Board expressed <br /> their congratulations to Mrs. Bird for her devoted volunteer efforts with <br /> much appreciation. <br /> COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> Planning Grants; <br /> The Cape Cod Comnussion has recently approved six supplemental <br /> planning grants in the amount of$150,000 indicated Mr. Taylor, Mshpee's <br /> Director of Public Works. <br /> Of the$150,000 in supplemental planning grant fonds, $50,000 vas <br /> allocated for the Upper Cape. Mashpee is the recipient of two grant <br /> recommendations informed Mr. Taylor. <br /> The sum of$18,000 will fund a regional planning grant with the Town <br /> of Falmouth to study transportation issues. The grant will focus <br /> on coordinated traffic projections, traffic issues and road and bikeway <br /> facility designs indicated Mr. 'Taylor. <br /> The second grant recommendation will benefit Mashpee and Sandwich <br /> focusing on a walking grail from South Cape Beach to Bufflehead Bay <br /> enroote to Sandy Neck Beach. The$19,750 grant will also include <br /> bike tra s and parking facilities noted Mr.Taylor. <br />
