:yPage Board of Selectmen Minutes April 11, 1994 JR SR HIGH SCHOOL: Approval of Architect Contract: Motion made by Selectman Caffyn to approve the revised fee proposal in principal as submitted by Symmes, Maini and McKee Associates, Inc, fair the Burn o $1,454,000 subject to Town Counsel's_ review and approval. Upon approval, Town Counsel is instructed to develop contract for execution. Motion seconded by selectman Jacobson. VOTE; Unanimous. 5-0. NEW BUSINESS: Recognition of Aurora Bird; Aurora Bird,recipient of the silver DOVE award was recognized by the Board of Selectmen for her volunteer efforts. IVB. Bird, a member of the Council on Aging has been a tireless volunteer for the senior community,the school system and town hall. Mrs. Bird was one of ten senior volunteers in the state to win this award. DOVE: Devoted Outstanding'volunteer to Elders. The Board expressed their congratulations to Mrs. Bird for her devoted volunteer efforts with much appreciation. COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: Planning Grants; The Cape Cod Comnussion has recently approved six supplemental planning grants in the amount of$150,000 indicated Mr. Taylor, Mshpee's Director of Public Works. Of the$150,000 in supplemental planning grant fonds, $50,000 vas allocated for the Upper Cape. Mashpee is the recipient of two grant recommendations informed Mr. Taylor. The sum of$18,000 will fund a regional planning grant with the Town of Falmouth to study transportation issues. The grant will focus on coordinated traffic projections, traffic issues and road and bikeway facility designs indicated Mr. 'Taylor. The second grant recommendation will benefit Mashpee and Sandwich focusing on a walking grail from South Cape Beach to Bufflehead Bay enroote to Sandy Neck Beach. The$19,750 grant will also include bike tra s and parking facilities noted Mr.Taylor.
