r
F
RL ' f
MAY ' 51994
+
To: The Honorable Board of Selectmen *. .;; :.#4 •; t
is
Fr: Randy Je DeMello
Re: Resignation
Ef fecti a June 1 1994I hereby resign from. my position as Patrolman for
the Mashpee Police Department.
would liketake this opportunity toinclude Deputy Chief Cooper
Sergeant thier for their support and guidance in my endeavors to
but not limited to revitalization of the X-9 Unit, Commercial vehicle
Enforcement Team, their support of the promotional process, and my position
s Narcotics Investigator.
would also like to express gay disappointment with the Board of Selectmen
for allowing politics to become a motivating factor in the most recent
sergeant promotions. I was directly involved in the tedious negotiations
for the current promotional procedure. My question to the Board is that why
even have a procedure to determine the most qualified candidates when they
(Board of Selectmen) are going to appoint the person that they wish anyhow.
It would have saved a lot of people, a lot of tie and money to appoint the
person that the Board desired without putting the candidates through the
amecessa y promotional process. It was a waste of timefor me and was a
key factor in determining nary resignation.
don't think that the Board realizes the quality and professionalism of
men and women they have working in the police department. They have been
pleasure to work with over the last eight years and more importantly, good
friends. No one could ask to work with a finer group of officers. I will
miss them
Sin e e y
• o
W
r
