a
Page 1
Board of Selectmen
• Minutes-Verbatim
August 8, 1994
Liquor License Transfer:
Discussion relative to notification;
Attorney: In conjunction with the application I have to submit before the Board,
my affidavit indicating that a notice was published in the Enterprise on
July 26th. I have an attested copy of the notice as published, a copy of
the notice which I mailed to all of the abutters joining the proposed new
location together with the green return receipt cards that were all received.
I sent out thirteen notices and all thirteen cards were received.
The reason that only thirteen were sent out was that Robert Shales owns
multiple units at Sand Piper Village and Roger Williams, trustee also
owns multiple units at Sand Piper Village.
Discussion relative to Distance:
Gibbs: I have some concerns with the liquor store moving to the Stop & Shop
area......Is it 500' from the property-where the actual store it to be located?
•
Attorney: I don't know what the distance is, but the Superintendent of the Middle
School was given notice and so wasn't the school itself.
Whritenour: It's very close to 500' if not within the 500'. It's difficult to tell
because the building is not there yet. There is no plan on file that
shows the actual location, but we did measure it out with the assistance
of the Town Planner on an aerial photo today. It indicated that it would
be extremely close to the 500'.
It requires notification. There is no prohibition of that type....but it
does require notification of the facility and that would apply to the
church...and the school.
Vaccaro: Was the Superintendent of the school notified?
Attorney: Yes.
Caffyn: We have the Chairman of the School Committee here to respond.
Gibbs: Also, do you know exactly where the building will be located?
Attorney: No, no, the location is in the North Market Street shops. It appears
identifiable...
Gibbs: Is it on the left hand portion or the right hand portion?
