Page <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> September 1.3, 1994 <br /> Meeting resumed; Selectmen's Conference Room: <br /> Town Planner re: Economic Development <br /> Focal Partnership Grant: <br /> 8:50 p.m. Selectman Bills opened the Public Hearing on the Town's <br /> application for a FY 1994 Massachusetts Small Cities Program Local <br /> Economic Development Partnership Planning Grant. <br /> Torn Fudala, the Town Planner was present to discuss the Town's <br /> application for grant funding sought to employ a consultant to assist the <br /> Local Economic Development Partnership Committee in developing <br /> a Strategic Plan for achieving the Town's Economic Development goals. <br /> The Public Hearing is held as a part of the application process to solicit <br /> comments, suggestions and questions on the proposed application <br /> noted Mr. Fudala. <br /> Last year, the Town established a Local Pcononnic Development <br /> Partnership program to work on a strategic approach to economic <br /> development planning indicated Mr. Fudala. The Local Partnership groin <br /> consists of the Executive Secretary, members of the Economic Develop- <br /> ment Committee, the Town Planner,Historic Commission,wampanoag <br /> Tribal Council and members of the Conservation Commission. <br /> The proposed scope of the Strategic Plan consists of six elements <br /> informed Mr. Fudala. Guidelines as developed by the State would <br /> involve; <br /> Development of Goals and Objectives <br /> Economic Performance Assessment <br /> Analysis of the Town's Economic Structure <br /> Analysis of available Economic Resources <br /> Analysis of the Town Economic Situation <br /> Strategic Plan for Economic Development <br /> The Town qualifies for up to$30,000 in grant funding for this project <br /> because it meets the State's economic criteria for an "Economic Target <br /> Areae indicated Ilrir. Fiala. <br /> Federal funds will benefit lour and moderate income persons by providing <br /> jobs and increased incomes for our lour and moderate income residents <br /> indicated fir. Fudala. It was noted that ° of Mashpee residents fall <br /> within this category. <br />
