F <br /> } Page <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> September 2 , 1994 <br /> enrich Enterprises, Inc. d/b/a Liberty Liquors: <br /> The Public Hearing notice has been corrected by the second notice and by the continuation <br /> of the hearing today indicated Attorney Nlarder. <br /> On this date, the Board has the authority to grant the transfer of license from the current <br /> location to the new location indicated Attorney Nirder. The Board cannot issue a license <br /> until the new establishment is built and has inspected by a licensing authority to ensure the <br /> terms of the building have been met to specifications. <br /> Attorney Nl rd r indicated that the Building Inspector can inspect the new building and <br /> make a recommendation to the Board. <br /> i <br /> Mr. Rent indicated that . .C.C. has not approved the license application to slate. The <br /> license remains under the name of Sea Breeze Liquors. with approval from the two <br /> entities, the new owners will assume responsibility until the move to the new location noted <br /> Mr. Rent. <br /> Being no further comment, Selectman Bills opened the Public Hearing for public <br /> comment. <br /> Peg Marsch asked if the Board would have sufficient information today to vote on this <br /> matter. She was informed by Selectman Mills that the Board should have sufficient <br /> information to vote on this matter today. For the record, Nis. Marsch requested input from <br /> each Board Member as to how the liquor store will benefit Mashpee and its citizens. Ms. <br /> Harsch expressed concern to the size of the store and long tern impact to residents. <br /> As noted by Ms. Harsch, the liquor stare can create additional domestic abuse, drunk <br /> driving and have the lives of policemen on the line. what are the benefits to a mega liquor <br /> store asked Nis. Harsch. <br /> Selectman Mills indicated that young people will not be corrupted by seeing a liquor store. <br /> This is a legal substance used in the home. The issue is, its a legal business indicated <br /> Selectman Mills. To infer that it is a business that will sell to minors infers that it will be <br /> operating illegally. <br /> Selectman Caffyn indicated that a liquor store in Forth Market Street is not an advantage <br /> for the conununity. She noted that there is little in Mashpee for families and children to do <br /> together. what is here for the year round resident asked Selectman Caffyn. <br /> Selectman Caffyn expressed disappointment to the proposal and the close proximity to the <br /> school. A large liquor warehouse is inappropriate indicated Selectman Caffyn. <br /> Kathleen Lyne related concerns to potential liquor signs. Lets remember that this is a <br /> DARE community stated Nis. Lynch who recommended adding more trees to serve as a <br /> natural barrier between the buildings. <br />
