EDUCATIONAL CONSULTANT Dr . DeMoura presented a memo outlining his thoughts on the criteria for an educational consultant. The Committee discussed -the various cri I ter ia. This person could act as a check against the architect. Someone to help the Committee develop their ideas. This person could present the Committee and the architect with choices and if there wer•e a conflict it would be perceived by the Committee. The Committee needs assistance in defining -their needs independently . This position would have to be hired through the design process. Dr . De dura reminded the Committee Sped r that educati I ona I SpeC I f 1cations are alo subject 'to approval by the School Committee. Ms. AhIgren noted this person could come on board right now. There is a lot of work in the planning stages that doesn ' t need an architect. If your wait to hire architect to Jan . 1 then they hire the consultant, the Committee has lost 3-4 months of planning . A program has to be developed as soon as possible . Dr. DeMoura stated an educational program has been developed in a general way, concept statements developed i .e . 2 house system and students will participate in math for all 4 years . The State formu'la is -then "plugged in" . The Committee discussed funding possibilities . The funding article for the Committee appropriated $100 ,000 . He does not have a good enough handle to describe it for the RFP. Dr . DeMoura' s list is a good start. ** The Committee agreed this position should begin as soon as possible .** Janice Mills suggested Dr . DeMoura work on the RFP with Bob writ enhour , they can begin it for the Committee 's discussion ,. Mr. Dinizio looked at the big picture , how many people the Committee must hire. When should these people begin work? #1 Educational Consultant - start now and have on board my Nov . Ist , maybe earlier. 03 Program Manager- when the information begins to flow which begins when the architect is on board therefore architect should be next to be hired . #2 Architect would like them to be working by second week in December., Survey - does the Committee have to hire separately or will the architect hire one? The Committee agreed part of the architects criteria will be to have a surveyor beg-in immediately .
