Tom has a 'lot of concerns and the Committee has heard a lot of
concern about the South portion of the site -- vegetation there ,
wetlands . To respond -to concerns we mus- roOde as much
pro-tection as pocaslble .. We should 'leave flexibi 'lity to use
northern "plateau" , property which is half commer-clal and include
it in the carticle .
Mr . D-it-vizia c.3-tate d .the Selectmen w1l ] make the, decision whether,
town meeting choose8 between the twosite-as ,. This Committee went
through all this work and our conclusions 'lead us SOffleplarG(D . We
have. a dead I ine. to meet. If -the Selectmcin want to change the
rules of the game now , that is their bus Iness . Whatever happens
outside of this roorn -i's beyond our control .
Ms . M-ille7.3, agreed the Committee did their job, but hopefully the
Sele(-,,.tmen will stay w-Ith the time table .
Mr . Gree lls[i stated -there are legal considerat'jon when the town
e,- ins to "cake the land , that 'it was done the right way .
That is why he wanted -to make his presentation at tonight' s
rneet i n g He does agree that the Center site is the proper ,i to
and -that -is the way hc,-% would have voted . The dividing issue -For
him was that the land or) 11,51 will ultimately be, preserved . Why
should we take that land from preservation .
Mr . DInizio stated -Lhere are certain benchmarks the Cf.)mmittee has
to reach and make decisions ,, He is sorry Mr ,, eras 1j ;sh CQLA] d not
support that tonight-,,
Mr. Greelish stated his problem wars the mel-,-hod . To choreograph a
vote when there was still discussion desired , was riot correct.
Mr ,, D-InIzio does not agree . Mr . Greelish could have, presented
his information at a prGavious meeting .
Mr . Greellish presented bonding cost projections . For, a $200 , 000
house , it will cost approximately $200 more peirynnar in taxes .
Bob Whri' te4iour i' s also generating figures or) bonding costs .
The Committee asked Dr% .. DeMoura what .the cost will be to operate
the school ?
Dr . DeMoura stated it appears to be less than -the cost of sending
the students to Falmouth . He would like to double check it
before g1ving the Committee a final figure .
What does 'the Committee want -to recommend -for land acquisition"?
Bill Martiros thinks the Committee shOUld explain to the
Selectmen how low the figures came -in frorn the, appraiser as
compared to assessed values .
Mr . Dinizio as-ked what legal counsel will 'lead us through this?
Will -it be Town Counsel '?
Tom said that is a good question .
