Should not be a full fitness center competing <br /> with local businesses. <br /> - B l 1fi ld W- fit as many as we can in the space we have. I <br /> necessary they can be designed but built in the future. <br /> - Indoor Track is very expensive. Will not include it. <br /> -- Tennis ou its included. <br /> - Theater arts center/Auditorium -- Committee agreed it is a joint <br /> use with the auditorium, Thi's Committee will not assume the <br /> proposed arts center in town will be built or available -dor <br /> school use . <br /> The Committee discussed the size of the auditorium,. Should it <br /> handle town meeting? The gyri can handle an extremely large town <br /> meeting . These days remote control can bring the meeting into <br /> other rooms . The Committee agreed to an auditorium of between <br /> 500-700 people but will research State re-imbursement poli ie ,, <br /> (Steve ro l i h joined the meeting at 4:40 ) <br /> -Library . The Committee decided it should be sufficient to servo <br /> the high school but with public access , Interaction between high <br /> school students and public <br /> is not a problem with the School <br /> Committee. <br /> Bill Jones noted two libraries may have a purpose , one being a <br /> quieter , more traditional library , a place to sit and read a book <br /> or newspaper while the high shoo 1 one will incorporate the <br /> newest technology* <br /> -Drivers Education Course- a laid out course is not necessary., <br /> -Planetarium - M r. Polito asked the committee to give this <br /> serious thought. Most Committee members bo r thought town meeting <br /> will never approve i t. The Committee will consider a small <br /> observatory. <br /> Ah l r n made a motion to forward the list g r d upon today <br /> ( 7/20/93 meeting ) to the architects with the understanding they <br /> will be designing a building with a total capacity for 1350 <br /> students with an initial oapaci ty for 1 , 000 and show how the <br /> addition wi l lo on for the additional 350 students and <br /> incorporating Leisure Service 's list and see what the impact of <br /> the Planetarium will be . Ms, Mills seconded the motion, All <br /> Committee members were in favor. <br /> MEETING WITH D - ARCHITECTS <br /> Carl Franceschi and Gary Larson were present representing DDA. <br /> CONTRACT -Mr . France chi explained there aro some minor <br /> adjustments to be made and it should be back to town counsel by <br /> tomorrow. <br /> 2 <br />
