' e r MASHPEE HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING OMMITTEE MINUTES UTE AUGUST 17 , 1993 f ASHPEE TOWN HALL Present: Peter Hi ni zio, Merry Sue Ahlgren, Janice ill , Pau` Griffin , Bill Marti ro , Bill Jones , Joe Polito, Tom Fudal a Absent: Steve Gree l i h , Robe rit M1118 , Linda Murtha Also Present: Carl Fran e chi , D A, Gary Larson, CERA MeE)tinq convened at 4: 05 p.m, DISCUSSION WITH ARCHITECT Carl F r arks h i presented a Schedule of Meetings for the Committee' s review, He worked backwards from a proposed Nov . 1 special town meeting , They expect to have their final report a few weeks before that date but they need the appraisal information 2 weans before that to incorporate i t. The Executive Secretary is working on the RFP for the appraisal work . ) He suggested they meet bi-weekly prior to that■ DRA can continue to rake progress between meetings and re8erve alternate weeks if something comes up The Committee agreed they have other businesq to take care of on alternate wee and will continue to meet weekly : preparing for Phase II work after town meeting , preparing RFP for the architect of the next phase, developing agenda' for those alternate weeks . Mr. Franceschi expects the geo technical engineer and traffic engineer tattend the meeting in 2 creeks to an8wer questions . Bill Jones asked if the traffic engineer would have a fairly definitive study at that time? The Committee would like a summary of the report/study. Mr . Fran e hi responded the traffic engineer will have come to their conclusions but it will not he in a final report format, The geo technical may be just the beginning of more information to come. The Committee reviewed the Site Selection Matrix presented by DRA. Mr. Franceschi explained it i' s a proposed format and the criteria can be ranked with a pos i t i v , negative or neutral , relative to the other site,. Each criteria will obviously have different "weight " *- Bill Bill J one, stated that aesthetic appeal is not on the criteria list, i . . one site overlooks the Quashri t River , one site i rolling and wooded . It is a vague term but is important. Joe added that creating a town center, giving the 'town a identity may also be important. Peter suggested -the overall impact to the town be considered. Mr . France h i noted there are secondary benefits, or negatives , the project creates that are beyond the proximity of the site.. You cannot get confused as to what is driving the project. 1
