l <br /> The committee discussed the 7-12 configuration . <br /> Ray stated the decisions which have to be made - you can spend the money to <br /> separate the 7 & 8th grades for the 5 years they will be in the school and <br /> compromise the building for the rest of its existence or just operate the <br /> high school as a 7--12 or try to do both } He thinks you can do both . <br /> He showed a scheme , where 7 , 8 and 9 would be in 1 house of the building . <br /> 7th grades classes do nstairs 8th would have some on the first and some on <br /> the second floor rooms and 9th grade would be all upstairs . The Committee <br /> might consider another entry , dropoff area specifically for the ,'un i or high <br /> students - to give them identity , <br /> Steve said if they are going to be on the same bus , the point is moot. <br /> Peter read a letter from Susan Butler, a school psychologist who works with <br /> the Middle school age group. She states as much as possible a separate <br /> environment should be created for the middle school students , including <br /> separate entrance , separate common area and ideally a separate bus <br /> schedule . " <br /> Ray thinks the separate entrance , in the front of the school , for the <br /> middle school students , opens up a lot of flexibility , It could be used as <br /> a second entrance at night . Home economics roves downstairs , <br /> where it is more useable for; Leisure Services , 2 of the labs could be used <br /> just for junior high . This scheme works better for junior high <br /> conf i qu ration . <br /> Joe thinks the science labs need the natural light and air which would <br /> occur in option l <br /> The Committee agreed the building is flexible enough to handle the various <br /> grade configurations , <br /> 8i l 1 Marti ros said last geek Clark Chen was trying to determine the <br /> architectural concept of the Cape , of I ashpee . Mashpee Commons i s a good <br /> indication of that <br /> Paul said his idea of the cape style is the cape style house with a slanted <br /> roof , or saltbox , not a rounded roof <br /> 6 <br />
