Metal studs and drywall allow you to run cables and re-arrange spaces when needed. Wood fiber panels in the ceiling in the common spaces . Janice asked how the Moakly center was running? Carl explained it has just gone out to bid . It hit the budget well . They are already looking to expand it. Steve said he has some concerns about the Fall River school and management of the details - the steel work , door casings , were not very well done. Quality of construction . David Anderson said they were also concerned about this. It is the public bid system and the present climate . The contractor has to take the low filed sub bidder . We spent time tearing down portions of the school and re-building it. The metal door frames are part of a filed sub bid . That general contractor is no longer doing public jobs . However, Mr . Anderson did receive the key to the city from the Mayor of Fall River for their work on that school . Bill Jones said there were some things he liked about the Fall River school , rubber flooring in the halls. Why didn ' t' you use it throughout the corridor space? Carl said they used rubber floor tiles in heavy traffic areas . There is a big money difference between that and vinyl tiles. Bill Jones said the maintenance savings would pay for it. Peter asked who designed Fall River - David Anderson Who designed Lowell - Carl Franceschi . Dick Rosane who is now retired designed Harwich . Peter explained Harwich says they still receive support from DRA. Paul said it is difficult to get a lot of sloped roof in these buildings. What are the pros and cons? Carl said in Franklin they used all sloped roofs for 140,00 sq ft building and Attleboro 110 , 000 sq feet of sloped roofs. You will pay a premium. A 120, 000 sq ft building will cost about $450, 000 more . Some people demand it for drainage. Paul asked about the life cycle of sloped roofs? Carl said they are comparable . In terms of budget, that $400, 000 can be better spent on the interior of the building . DRA thanked the Committee for having them back . COMMITTEE DISCUSSION The meeting reconvened at 7 : 25 p. m.
