Mr. Dinizio stated the Committee needs to see official motions from the Board of Selectmen that they vote on giving a timetable and instructions on what to do. If they want us to be formal , they have to be formal also. Mr. Whritenour suggested , when delaying with another Committee , do not look for every member to agree with you, there will be strong opposition . Be very formal in your relationship with these Boards. Be sure they give direction with formal votes and disregard the other viewpoints in reaching the decision. There is a lot of "side stuff" going on that is not related. Dr. DeMoura explained on Jan . 28th there is a meeting scheduled with Diane Price to have a general discussion with Dr. Collabro on his work to date so there will be no surprises when the project is complete. Mr . Dinizio explained the public has to know the impact of what you are doing - you are creating an educational program from which the building will be designed. What goes into that educational program will also effect whether or not we can afford extras i . e things the community may want. The Selectmen must understand exactly what is going into this building now, and get it coordinated. Dr. Collabro will meet with the Board of Selectmen on Jan. 24 or Feb 7th. Dr. DeMoura and Mr. Whritenour are coordinating that . Mr. Dinizio asked Dr. Elizabeth Petti if the School Committee is coming up with an alternative plan if the school doesn 't open in 1996? Does the School Committee believe we should be shooting for 1996? Dr. Petti stated once and for all - that school has to be open in Sept. 1996. Is that an official position of the School Committee? The Chairman of the Falmouth School Committee told Mashpee School Committee that is how it has to be. Has the School Committee taken an official vote on the alternatives? They have said it but Dr. DeMoura is not sure there is an official vote. This Committee would like to see an official vote. This Committee does know, from the Selectmen , if 1996 is our goal . The Selectmen have to tell the Committee what the goal is relative to an opening date. (Steve Greelish jointed the meeting at 5 : 10 p.m. ) Ms. Ahlgren suggested asking the Selectmen is they are doing anything about acquiring the land , Mr. Dinizio explained they are waiting for an Architect to determine which land to acquire. Mr. Whritenour has investigated with Town Counsel the steps to get it started. The Committee discussed the proposed performing arts center. 4
