It is a metal frame building with sports surface floor . 6 basketball courts and indoor running track. IBM facility in Southbury, Conn, M r. Freeman explained the history of the project. They did the feasibility study for a 225 ,000 acre site. They did not want to see the building from the main street. strict wetland laws . There was 750, 000 sq feet of offices, 600 seat dining facility , 120,000 sq feet of computer rooms and 6 of the offices had to have windows . They designed 4t as a campus type community with a series of smaller facilities ( buildings) . They stared construction in mid 1986 and it opened in Jan, 19s , 6 Months ahead of schedule. They cleared 1 1 0 acres of woodland , created a pond for the water run off. Since thea , IBM has cut back on its use of the building and are leasing some of the buildings, The Director of Real estate for IBM has s i nce left IBM and hired BTA to renovate the Prudential center.
