MASHPEE HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING COMMITTEE <br /> TUESDAY , JULY 26 , 1994 <br /> Towle HALL <br /> Members Present: Paul Griffin Bill Mart i ros , Peter D i n i z i o, Janice Mil1s <br /> Merry sue Ahlgren , Michael Pare , Joe Polito, Steve Greelish <br /> Also Present :4 Greg Taylor ,or , Tom F dal a, Dr ■ Lincoln DeMoura, Ian Aitchison , <br /> Tom Wren , Bill Cottrell , Shannon Scarlett, Tony Es Leve s , Pay Bo rdwe l l , Ed <br /> Frenette, Bob Fournier, Norris McCloud <br /> Meeting convened at 4 : 00 p . m. <br /> Bill hurt i ros had asked if the committee could start meeting , without any <br /> consultants , for 15-20 minutes t <br /> Merry sue rade a motion to accept the minutes of July 6 and July <br /> 12 . Paul seconded the motion . All members were in favor . ** <br /> Bill ia.rti ros said chartvie 1 l , at the last meeting , presented a lot of data <br /> and the committee only reviewed a couple of pages because we are on such a <br /> hurry-up course . The committee should try to figure where they are , before <br /> meeting with the consultants . <br /> The committee expects Chartwell will go over all that information , relative <br /> to the project at today ' s meetingl <br /> Paul said because there is so much information the committee can ' t go over <br /> it all at a Meeting . They should read it and be prepared to ask questions <br /> at the next meeting . <br /> B i 11 said the cuff peak roof the comm! ttee chose is the same as the h i ghwa.y <br /> department buiIding . if you look at that building you will see the whole <br /> roof l i ne . He does not like i t. <br /> Merry sue noted you will on] see that view fr m the football field . <br /> Peter explained he met with the selectmen on Monday night. Bill Jones was <br /> there saying there are educational problems with the building and financial <br /> i t respons i b i l i t . Bi l l Jones and Nancy caffn are definitely for reducing <br /> the size of the building . Bill said he spoke with school principals who <br /> agree with him that junior senior high together is educationally unsound . <br /> Selectmen Gaff n made a mot-ion to have the school committee prove the 1180 <br /> student figure is worthwhile for the town but it did not draw a second . <br /> Bill was told to bring any further questions to the School committee . <br /> Michael Fare said he has contacted people in Michigan about the work of <br /> Childs . He spoke with a few schools that had to hire someone else after <br /> Childs completed their work to clean up the mess . He d i d hear they were <br /> good at educational programming- software set up . Their expertise does not <br /> lie in designing infrastructure . <br /> Paul said that work is not under the scope of SMMA ' s contract , it ' sunder <br /> equ i pment. The Committee can use Tava res, who submitted a quote, or find <br /> someone else . <br /> Merry sue asked Michael i f there are people out there who do this and can <br /> he give the committee and SMMA names of firms to use <br /> Paul said Childs ' scope of services is to provide assistance to the <br /> Committee to be sure the building has the necessary options to provide for <br />
