which is a thoroughfare to the gym, architecturally and not just with
scheduling?
Phil said there will only be 30 students using it to go to the gym. This
arrangement has been done a great deal and works successfully .
The corridor is 12 feet wide and there is another 4 feet before the tables.
Ed said congestion at the servery will be eliminated because the corridor
is 12 feet wide with an extra 6 feet at each entrance to the servery for
stacking .
Bill would like to see a sketch of the traffic flow in the whole main entry
area- how does it all tie together.
Phil said they will blow that area up on the plan , that is a better way to
look at it than the perspective .
Paul said previously the Committee said they did not like the poles in the
academic wing corridors.
They were moved in (out of the way ) .
Bill said he is against that ceiling change in the cafeteria. All the
things they did not like from the schools they visited they are now putting
into this school . The cafeteria will look like a boiler room.
Paul does not find oval duct work offensive at all .
Paul presented photos of 2 gyms , on painted, 1 not painted at all . When
painted correctly , it was a very pleasing space.
Joe asked about the possibility of eliminated the ceiling on the second
floor of the academic wing .
Ed said they will explore it but many utilities will have to be twisted
around . There is a lot of duct work .
Phil said another concern is the need to increase the size of the unit
ventilators, that will add cost.
Paul asked if there is any value to carpet in the cafeteria?
Phil doe not recommend it.
Ed said he has never done it.
Paul suggested they could get a roll out rug for after school uses.
Bill asked what the columns in the cafeteria will be made of?
Round pipe- steel that will be painted .
Chartwell was to investigate with Canteen possibly eliminating a pass
through refrigerator. Tom Wren will get that answer ASAP and fax it to
SMMA.
Bob Fournier presented a proposal from Dan Solien for $2 , 000 for further
research on the Brynwood, Nye and Cornish properties.
Paul explained the land acquisition subcommittee needed that information
immediately and they asked Dan to do that work. Dan gave the plan to Bob
Whritenour tonight.
** Merry Sue made a motion to approve $2 , 000 plus markup for b
additional work for Dan Solien- BSS . Janice seconded the motion .
8
