higher quality and different color. Theater walls - block , wood and sound attenuating material . They will draw it for the Committee' s review. Ray presented 2 color samples for the exterior wood. They suggested the wood be stained, so it won 't change color. Bill suggested Cabots bleaching oil , it will turn silver grey. Bob said it takes years for the color and it must be continually treated . All colors are subject to further discussion. Theater seat material is a standard heavy upholstery fabric. Ray said they did not expect the colors would be designed by Committee. They will try to develop a theme. Peter said the architects will put it all together and bring it back to the Committee. Janice said this is what we' re paying them for, let them choose. Ray asked Joan to provide him with information for color ranges that represent native american colors. Nature and native american colors are the driving theme. Interior glass -the interior classrooms, with the borrowed light, will have glass windows to the hall . There is a lot of patterning available with glass, light comes through it but you can 't see "faces" etc. There is less distraction . Ray presented a sample . (Merry Sue left the meeting) The Committee discussed the classroom door layout. They have to decide how many doors they want in each classroom. Ray said they cost about $1 ,000 each. Ray had suggested a second door, near the entrance, which connected to the next classroom. Dr. DeMoura said it is an issue of supervision . Do we want teachers to have to go out to the corridor to watch 2 classrooms. Janice said there needs to be 2 exits to a room for safety. Paul said the second door near the entrance is useless. How do you handle the orphan classroom on the end? Ray said he is wiling to try to work on a solution , but this is unusual for him, he has never been asked to do this before. It is an important issue because a lot of plans will have to be changed. Paul suggested a change that will allow the classrooms to be monitored from the front of the room. The orphan room will not be the same but it meets the requirements in all other cases. It will require doing the electrical wiring differently . Steve does not think it is an expensive change. After careful review, it seems the same number of doors will be needed in either case. Ray will review it further, he knows what the school department needs and will design the best plan . Windows - will have mini blinds , they control the light better. He presented a stainless steel product for the handrails and asked the Committee to think about that issue.
