Concerning enforcement issues on the fresh water ponds, Steve Mone stated that boat length and HP <br /> restrictions in the past had been appealed to the State to enhance safety, but were not supported. <br /> It was felt by some committee members that the State Environmental Police does not have a needed <br /> enforcement presence on these fresh water ponds to complement the resources of the Town. It was <br /> unanimously agreed that the Waterways Commission send a request to the EPO for additional <br /> assistance at the Ponds during these influx periods of high traffic and utilization. <br /> Rick said that boating traffic on Waquoit Bay was extremely high. He reported that$50,000 in funds for <br /> a new Zodiac service boat had been requested.Steve Mone,as a reminder, noted that fresh water boats <br /> used by the Town should be washed down when moved from one pond to another. <br /> Of note, Rick said that the detection system deployed for great white shark detection had not pinged to <br /> date. <br /> DNR Director/Shellfish Constable Report: <br /> Rick updated the staffing status, Rachael Fordham has returned this season and 2 new waterway <br /> assistants had been hired. The Shellfish Warden position is still vacant. <br /> Rick York stated that on July 5th and 611, 1000 bags(5 tons) of oysters seeding had been moved by his <br /> staff and Americorp members for propagation in the Mashpee River. He added that 10,500,000 quahog <br /> seedings have been placed in Little River. <br /> Committee Reports: <br /> Mashpee/Wakeby Lake and Johns Pond--No additional comments <br /> Popponesset Bay Area-No additional comments <br /> Waquoit Bay Area—No additional comments <br /> Water Quality Update—Don stated that Annual Water Quality Report for 2017 to be provided by Dr. <br /> Howes on July 1211 at the Selectman Meeting, all are welcome to attend. <br /> Barnstable County Coastal Resources Committee Update—No report <br /> Sewer Committee Update Report--No report, no recent meetings <br /> Public Access Update: <br /> Ken gave an update on Fisherman's Landing and the issue where fishermen are being blocked and <br /> denied access. Ken reported that Save the Bay and the Popponesset Beach Association are looking to <br /> amend the MOU with the State. Doug Cameron at the State is being consulted on this issue. <br /> Waterways Improvement Plan and Dredting: <br />
