Jeff whale was present representing Childs consulting . <br /> Joel explained there was a meeting yesterday with Michael l i rw i n of cc 1 , <br /> Manny Tavares, MMA' s electrical department, Phil Po i ne l l i and himself . It <br /> was a very beneficial meeting , a lot of information was developed . CCR i <br /> on their way to developing the wiring and infrastructure . <br /> M r. Whale , Vice President of Childs Consulting, has worked for Childs <br /> Consulting for 10 years in the educational planning and engineering <br /> departments . Today he would like to talk about specific products and how <br /> they apply to education. <br /> He presented a sketch of a typical classroom and reviewed were all the data <br /> drops will be. He said the classrooms are designed to be flexible and have <br /> the flexibility to expand. <br /> Teachers cabinet, with computer ,' will have A/c outlet and jacks in ide . All <br /> outlets will go back to that cabinet. You can physically bolt the computer <br /> onto the shelf for about $50. He recommends looking into that. <br /> They recommend fiber opt i c backbone. <br /> TV will be wall mounted . <br /> They recommend providing the ability to transfer the computer screen image <br /> to the TV so the entire class can view it, <br /> Video camera - can be brought into the classroom plugged into a jack and <br /> have a lire message throughout the building. <br /> A camera in the principals office will bring live messages through the <br /> school . <br /> There will be two channels to broadcast video,, <br /> The i rite rnet is s powerful too] . It i s presently being studied whether <br /> distance learning can be applied through the internet. <br /> The School Department/committee must prioritize the systems in order of <br /> importance. <br /> Peter asked about monitors in the hallways and cafeteria,. <br /> M r, whale said students shouldn 't be in the hallways, if the monitors are <br /> displaying time then it is a very expensive clock . They are planned to be <br /> in the cafeteria. In the lobby there are 4 monitors in the front lobby . <br /> Peter explained there will only be classes i n the bu 11 d i n g when i t opens <br /> and it will take 4 years to fill the school , Do we buy PC ' s as we grow? <br /> Mr. whale said yes, and TVs . All classroom will be wired f o r <br /> infrastructure and you should put a plan together~ for areas that will be <br /> occupied initially. You don 't want PCs or TVs sitting there, unused , using <br /> up their warranty periods. <br /> Peter asked what type of fiber optic cable is planned to be used? <br /> Mr . whale said they plan to use flexible cable. Video is net using fiber. <br /> Paul explained he visited the school in Rockford MI which has TV monitors <br /> in the corridors broadcasting messages to students , schedule changes, etc. <br /> 3 <br />
