Mr . Whale said that can also b accomplished on the monitor in the <br /> classroom. It i's a good source of communication between administration and <br /> staff . It i s often abused and there will have to be strictly enforced <br /> rules . <br /> Bill asked if the Thr cable in the rooms are in a. conduit going from outlet <br /> to outlet? <br /> M r . Whale said yet and no. He drew a sketch of their proposal . when in the <br /> wall , it will be in a conduit, when overhead , in the ceiling , not conduit. <br /> Bill asked how long TV cable lasts? <br /> Mr. whale suggested asking the cable company . At least 30 years. Steve <br /> suggested it has a 1000 year life. <br /> Mr. whale said fiber will be used only between the data closet and the <br /> media center, the remainder will be copper. <br /> He has built 200 buildings with this design and it has worked well . why not <br /> take fiber to the desk top? Cost, <br /> Bill asked if his typical classroom design is the minimum? <br /> He said no, minimum wou1d be a data drop only at the computer station . <br /> Library automation systems. There are some very good ones on the market, <br /> there are 3 that Mr. Whale has a preference for. It will make the library <br /> staff ' s life a lot easier. Each has many different programmin options , <br /> Science Room- there was a lot of discussion about where to place the TV at <br /> yesterday ' s meeting. They decided high up was best, there wasn ' t any room <br /> elsewhere. Ther suggest a top down camera for the lab station , so it can <br /> be put on the TV and students can stay in their seats . It only costs about <br /> $50 . He needs feedback from the Committee . <br /> Dr . Deoura likes its if the budget allows . <br /> Me r r y Sue and Joe both 1 i ke it P <br /> Comm i ttee discussed library automation systems , Peter asked if the CLAMS <br /> system, will be included in the school pa ka e9 Dr. De dura said it has to <br /> be determined if the school library will be accessible from outside the <br /> school . He feels there should be some mechanism to allow access from the <br /> outside. <br /> The public library and school libraries use Winnebago for their automation <br /> system. <br /> Paul said he hopes there will be a. partnership between the public library <br /> and school library. <br /> Joe said there is such a re ou rce so close i n the Oceanographic In titote, <br /> he hope the school can take advantage of that. <br /> Permission from wHO I is the question. <br /> Media center - will have 6-8 racks . It i' s 275 sq feet and Mr. Whale <br /> questions if the area is large enough to support all the technology you <br /> want to bring i n. <br /> Merry Sue explained the drool ' video person wane hi's equipment at the TV <br /> studio, not up in the media center. <br /> He said they can move the equipment down but there will be 6 racks and over <br /> 1000 tiles of tapes .
